To hate people taping live gigs on their mobile?

It's just considered normal now to stand at the front trying to get video on your shitty mobile camera. So all you see is arms in the air holding bloody phones.
What ever happened to actually enjoying the moment without the need to document it so you have a (crap) film to watch later?

I do think you are being unreasonable to care so much - sorry!

It is Friday and the sun is shining - enjoy!

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 18/05/2007 14:35

The sun is shining , but I'm in an office with a lovely view of people having fun.

i couldn't give a monkeys

yabu

get over it

although I suppose there may be copyright issues from a legal pov

aDad · 18/05/2007 14:36

i dont know about hate people who do it, but it does seem like they are constantly fiddling with their phones and trying to stand still to get a good picture rather than enjoying the gig. It does seem pretty stupid!

MrsDiorKeanuReeves · 18/05/2007 14:36

So you are jealous - rather than unreasonable!

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 18/05/2007 14:43

I don't care about the copyright issues.
Its more if you pay £20 for a ticket, then it must be a musician you love, so why spend the whole time waving your phone around?

OP posts:
TheDevilWearsPrimark · 18/05/2007 14:50

Jealous of the people I can see that are clearly not at work, but thats irrelevant to my point my dear

YANBU

whose gig was it?

southeastastra · 18/05/2007 14:52

it would piss me off too if there were right in front of me

JARM · 18/05/2007 14:53

im with you on this.

My SIL and I went to a concert a few weeks ago, she spent the entire time trying to get a decent picture on her mobile and recording some of the songs.... all fine and well but the pictures were blobs and the recordings were of her drowning out anyone else

Hated it, i was there to enjoy it but I got mainly a view of mobile phones.

aDad · 18/05/2007 14:54

the recording must look and sound pants on a phone as well.

But you might be the first one to post it on Youtube so it's all worth it

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 18/05/2007 14:56

Too many to count. I noticed it starting a couple of years ago, and now it seems to be the absolute norm.
The worst was Amy Winehouse. Closely followed by the zutons, and James Morrison. Though the one that bothered me most was Basement Jaxx, as people trying to dance were shoved around by others trying to get good footage and clearly just watching the whole thing through a screen.

Manictigger · 18/05/2007 15:31

Thedevil, I HATE HATE HATE (etc) people doing this and tend to respond by jiggling about dancing and 'accidently' knock into them. And don't mention those tossers who spend whole songs chatting to people on their phones, only stopping to applaud a song that they've just ignored....... AAAggghhh. I think you've just hit on a sore point and I will now retreat and go and have a cup of tea and breathe slowly.

itssunny · 18/05/2007 23:54

JARM am sure 'H' would be really pleased thats what you thought!

Skribble · 18/05/2007 23:59

We got comps for a gig recently which gave us front row, but I had to endure my parting being rearranged every 2 mins by silly cows holding mobiles over my head, security warned them to back off, but it was seriously getting on my nerves.

Its a bit like people who pay a fortune for tickets then get so pissed they don't even get allowed in or get in and spen all night in the loo.

nappyaddict · 19/05/2007 00:35

a lot of times my friends went to concerts and i couldnt go when i was preg so they would take photos, recordings and ring me during my fave songs. admittedly i couldn't see/hear a thing but the though was there. so yes YABU.

A thread that provides the excellent, teenage comment (provided on these pages) "Build a bridge and get over it".

Skribble · 19/05/2007 00:46

Hey I wasn't too bothered as we had seats worth hundreds of pounds for nowt, just seems crazy to pay loads and watch it all through you mobile while you film or take constant pics or with your head down a loo.

Just enjoy the gig and get you phone out of my face, Cheers! .

yep! Would copyright it to a poster, but I forget who it was who said it. I have slept since then.

unknownrebelbang · 19/05/2007 00:51

Hate........tis such a strong word.

Can't say I'm bothered, but then haven't been to a concert for ages, and the last time I was on the front row....but not with mobile in hand, lol.

Skribble · 19/05/2007 00:54

It has got worse ove the last couple of years as cameras on phones have got better, and sorry but it does spoil the atmosphere (and veiw).

For the sake of £14.99 you could buy the official live video which will be filmed by professionals and not involve you standing like a right fud with your arm in the air all night .

MrMariella · 19/05/2007 00:56

hmmm re hate......dislike..it annoys me when.....I wish they wouldn't....hate is reserved for a gut-wrenching feeling, IMO, and to be strictly disciplined as it eats one away.......

"and calm"

unknownrebelbang · 19/05/2007 00:58

quite.
