Neighbours and tree blocking sun

Inherited a large tree in our small garden. It has a TPO and is in a Conservation Area.

Got it checked and trimmed 3 years ago (including submitting plans for council’s consent) and whole thing took ages and cost £1,500.

NDN have recently done up their neglected garden. They are demanding (think notes in capitals on our front door) that we trim branches - all of which are in our garden - as they block light to NDN garden. No offer to contribute to costs.

I explained that it wasn’t just a question of lopping off the branches but they are being very pushy. AIBU to say that if they want branches trimmed, they can apply and pay for it?

I'd say tough. If the branches are in your garden it's hard cheese.

YANBU They should have thought about these things when buying the house. Tell them you can't afford it. End of conversation.

Also they should be charming you into doing this not being aggressive. Idiots.

Just be firm with them. There is no legal right to light. Unlucky they should have factored in the tree when they bought the property. Trying to bully you is totally the wrong approach twats.
