Red peppers in frozen/ready meals

AIBU or does every single ready meal have sodding red peppers in it? They are shite! Always rubbery and add no flavour to the meal whatsoever. I think they get thrown in to bump up the weight of the meal cheaply.

I eat ready meals when I'm in a rush or calorie counting and I end up having to pick the little buggers out every time. Aargh!

Red peppers are not a cheap ingredient compared to carrots, for instance. I think they're included to add colour. I love 'em!

Jesuisleloup · 22/05/2018 19:29

I think it’s more about the colour and sweetness. The green ones are so bitter

MilkyCoffeeAndSkinnySyrup · 22/05/2018 19:35

I love red peppers lol

IratusBug · 22/05/2018 19:53

Yes and always in the lower calorie ranges - rank

BaldricksTrousers · 22/05/2018 19:56

This isn't to say I don't like peppers. I like to eat them raw and stir fried...but by the time they've been cooked, frozen, and re-cooked, they suck!

I am gobsmacked that there are actually people in the world that like them like that!

I seriously can’t stand red peppers. It annoys me that everytime I buy a veg pizza, it has mixed peppers. I only want the green!

GhettoFabulous · 22/05/2018 20:12

They burn a hole right through my stomach and they're in bloody everything.

harajukubabe · 22/05/2018 20:53

Yanbu. I think it's more about colour than cheapness though. Peppers taste horrible over cooked.
