Concert rescheduled

Going to a concert in a months time- just had letter to say it’s been put back by 2 months, on my child’s birthday . Am gutted for 2 reasons-
Don’t want to leave them on birthday although early teens and they have said it’s ok with promise of a sleepover but I know they d feel different nearer the time.
Also have booked hotel & train tickets, will I lose the money especially the train ticket says non refundable advanced ticket. So even if we go I have to re book tickets.

Can’t believe it especially it’s on that day!! Sad

This happened to me too recently OP and it's SO rubbish. We tried to get something towards hotel and airfare costs but they wouldn't budge. It's such a pain. No advice just sympathy!

Who gets travel insurance for a concert?!

Hotels will usually refund with 48 hrs notice.

Advance train tickets can be rescheduled if you pay the £10 admin fee.

So you're out £10...

Also, if you bought your ticket from an official seller you can get a refund. So you don't have to miss your daughter's birthday after all.

Still allowed be gutted though, it’s took a lot of planning and booking of babysitters to organise!!
It’s just rubbish when there’s no reason given for cancelling or rescheduling.

Some people have annual travel insurance or travel insurance through their bank account so it is not an unreasonable question the pp asked!

If you won’t be going to the rearranged date is there something else in the area that you could do to use the train and hotel anyway?

I think I'd go with Sirzy's suggestion. Get a refund for the concert ticket. Use that money (plus the original train and hotel bookings) to have a nice short trip to whichever city you were going to (I'm guessing it's Birmingham for Justin Timberlake?). Be at home for your child's birthday.

It's disappointing you won't go to the concert, but I'm sure people on here can suggest things you can do in Birmingham (or wherever it is) on that date?

You can change the date of travel on your train tickets. Hotel depends what rate and conditions you booked.

It's a bit crap when it happens. I had tickets to see a band next Saturday and they've rescheduled to a Tuesday night which I can't do.

Haha knew it would be easy guessable but it’s the Manchester one.
Is it really unforgivable to go, I’ve mentioned it to her and when I said I was cancelling she would rather have a sleepover when we are away and was trying to persuade me to go Confused

Honestly I wouldn't have cared as a teen. As long as I had food and friends , maybe take her out 1 on 1 on the weekend instead

A few years back we had tickets to see two of my favourite bands within a week of each other. Both cancelled. In one case Tom Anaya needed back surgery and with the second gig we were just told it was health reasons. Six months later Dio was dead. Absolutely heartbroken for his death and sad that I never got to the gig and see him live.
We obviously didn't know RJD was so ill. However on both nights we had arranged babysitters etc so me and DP just made the most and had a fabulous time in Manchester!

Incidentally we had tickets for a big day out on Saturday and was really looking forward to seeing Frightned Rabbit. Tragically that is a gig that won't happen. ( RIP Scott Hutchinson)

Sure shit happens but you can bet your last quid that gigs don't cancelled on a whim.

Because it's a Justin Timberlake concert? I don't think many early teens kids would be interested. They won't have even been born when he was big with N*Sync/Cry Me A River etc. It will be a mainly 30+ crowd I bet.

My dd is going to Ed Sheeran, Katy Perry and the vamps I the space of a month I’m sure she’s not too hard done by
