Name changed because outing!

Anyhoo, dp went to go out earlier and a neighbour stormed over to him to confront him and accuse him that one his friends had hit his sons car and drove off.

My dp asked what car it was and when told he reassured the neighbour that he did not have a friend with this car.

Another neighbour had told the neighbour who was accusing my dp of this had said they had saw the car reverse off our drive yesterday.

Firstly this pissed me off because it is a SHARED drive with my next door neighbour and secondly, I was in all day yesterday so no other car could fit behind mine, therefore, the car must have been from the next door neighbours driveway 😡

I don’t know whether I’m being irrational or not but it’s just the way he accused my dp.

Don’t get me wrong, I would be angry too! Who wouldn’t! But you surely should know facts before accusing people!

The other neighbours apparently got the Reg number of the car so why not just go the police?!

Arghhhh

Has any neighbours or yourself have cctv? That's what I'd be asking/finding out

cfNeighbour · 20/05/2018 21:55

Unfortunately no!

Yes ~ they need to get their facts straight before confronting anybody. Hope they apologised once they were put right?

cfNeighbour · 20/05/2018 22:25

Tbf to them, my dp has not long got back from their house after wanting to assure them it was nothing to do with us and he said they had apologised a lot so at least that is something! Smile

Apologies mean shit now a days. You need proof

MyKingdomForBrie · 20/05/2018 22:49

I’d be annoyed to be approached aggressively but they have apologised and were clearly misinformed so I’d be more annoyed with the neighbor who misinformed them.

cfNeighbour · 20/05/2018 22:53

Yes I’m feeling the same way towards the other neighbours because it would have been obvious it was from my next door neighbours drive but my dp said I was over reacting 🙄

I've been on the other side of this far too often in fact I've seen our neighbour drive into our car the current count is 3 times unfortunately it's is my word against his and all I've achieved so far is increased insurance premiums.

cfNeighbour · 20/05/2018 23:03

I can only imagine how awful that is for you but he has the reg, surely just go through the police!

Also, we are decent people. God, I’d be furious if it happened to my car so wouldn’t lie for someone. Cars are expensive things!!

Unfortunately no!

I'd say veryfortunate, so when you put nails in their fucking tyres, there's no proof.

Ariela · 21/05/2018 00:09

It could perhaps have been someone turning into your drive to turn round?

My desk is by the window, and as we have a decent width driveway in a single track dead end road we get a lot of people who cannot reverse / turn round in our entrance way. Many of them hit one of our gates (one is always closed, one open we only use one), it's quite amusing to watch how many shuffles they take to get in to turn around, when we can slickly reverse the horsebox trailer in without hitting anything, as can 7.5t delivery lorries - it's about 10ft wide so hardly difficult.
Could it have been a non-related car turning around in the drive that did the damage?

Jamie - set up CCTV. It's very easy and cheap.
