Hair strand drugs testing court order

Nonmotherof3 · 20/05/2018 19:25

The ex has said there has never been a problem with drugs.

Court order states had to have hair sample taken within 14 days....She went awol didn't do drugs test within 14 days (and then tried to blame us)

Anyway that was Friday. We saw the ex yesterday and she has cropped her hair (about 1cm short, prob an inch on top) and bleached it white.

Obviously as she had not ever taken drugs (just takes kids to crack houses and passes out as a general social activity, as you do) the test is no problem (I've had a gin and just can't be polite any more)

What is really like to know is

  • what the courts are likely to do
  • if they can still do the test
  • if they can't still do the test what the courts will do.

I'm going to have to have another gin. This is the most stressful situation ever. I want to cry a bit, into my gin, because I'm worried what's obvious to us won't be to the courts....and they will say nice haircut and the test will become void.

They’re unlikely to be able to do the test now. Hair growth is estimated at roughly 1cm per month therefore each cm represents one month use (from the scalp). So usually they’d cut from the scalp and depending on the length of the hair depends how far back they can test. If she’s cut her hair to less than 1cm they won’t do the test, 1cm = 1 month testing etc. Bleach can also affect the results though I believe it affects alcohol testing more than drug testing.

I can’t help with what the courts are likely to do, sorry. But it seems like a very obvious ploy to me, surely a judge would see through it?

What’s happening at the moment, where are the children resident? And is this your ex or your partner’s ex?

Metoodear · 20/05/2018 20:01

The judges are used to this and will take it as indercation she was trying to avoid the test

Also she missed the test and that won’t go down well

kaytee87 · 20/05/2018 20:02

Honestly, judges aren't stupid and they'll see right through this one.

harriethoyle · 20/05/2018 20:02

It doesn't have to be head hair...

Metoodear · 20/05/2018 20:10

😀yes quite arm pit or pubic

RoseyOldCrow · 20/05/2018 20:12

@nonmotherof3
Can you find this thread now?
(Re other which said you'd lost it)

I concur with the views that the judge will see through this.
Good luck.

Can you ask the court for a different type of test? Where I work we use oral fluid testing and urine sample, these can be tested on-site or sent to labs. Different types of test do have various detection windows for drug screening.

NeverLovedElvis · 20/05/2018 20:21

Been through this a few years ago. Hair from any part of the body can be tested. All concerned will know why your ex has done this, so it won't help her case one bit.

Nonmotherof3 · 20/05/2018 20:51

Found it! Sorry have posted twice.

It's my partners ex. We have kids with us, she doesn't.

It's a nightmare....

I suppose she could be in contempt of court for not complying with the order ...

Nonmotherof3 · 20/05/2018 21:09

Thank you Smile

Definitely an obvious ploy. They'll know. It casts judgement, and the best bit is they'll have no way of quantifying what she has taken so may well treat her as a worst case scenario!

Sorry you have this stress though.

DPotter · 20/05/2018 21:30

Hair grows and will still show any drug usage
secondly there is pubic hair...............

DropItLikeASquat · 20/05/2018 21:35

pubic hair, armpit hair and blood testing could be used instead. sorry you are going through this :-(

Nonmotherof3 · 20/05/2018 21:56

I literally know no-one who has pubic hair. Even my most sensible friends who are accountants and things have a well trimmed if non existent lady garden 🤔

What will the courts do? She hasn't done as She is told as it was a court ordered test to be done before a certain date?

Eyebrow hair grows slower than head hair and can be tested for drug use of head hair too short.

ZibbidooZibbidooZibbidoo · 20/05/2018 22:28

If she is savvy enough to know to cut and bleach her hair she’ll have shaved all other body hair too. She’ll have mates giving her all their tips to avoid detection.
