To just do 2 types of sandwiches?

Kids party this afternoon for a 5 year old - just doing ham sandwiches and cheese sandwiches plus other normal stuff, carrots, pombear etc. In my experience they hardly eat anything at these parties, especially as it's not at a meal time. Am I being stingy?

No you’re right there’s always lots of waste.

AlonsoTigerHeart · 20/05/2018 09:46

Nope, its fine

SaucyJack · 20/05/2018 09:46

Nah, not unless you know you've got any vegans/kids with allergies who can't eat either.

Kids have got no appreciation for a decent sandwich IME. They'll just eat the Pom Bears.

RatOnnaStick · 20/05/2018 09:46

Not at all. The sandwiches generally end up getting hoovered by secretly hungry parents anyway. Don't give yourself more work than necessary.

In my experience the ham and cheese will be dispensed with and replaced with crisps, biscuits, twiglets.

I tend to ask sandwich filling preferences before the party and make up a bag of stuff each- (sandwich, crisps, mini cookies, crudités, fruit) if I’m doing a spread of stuff I do cheese, ham and jam! I like a variety... also I cut the crusts off Grin

I would just do pizza instead.

Rhayader · 20/05/2018 09:52

Thanks all. Weirdly DD doesn't like pizza 🤷‍♀️

I suspect they will be happy eating the pombear and popcorn!

Years ago I grew so fed up of nothing being eaten that I resorted to just supplying bowls on haribo and crisps

Funnily enough there was no further waste

It's fine. I just did fairy bread at one and breadsticks along with other bits and pieces but no sandwiches at all. Nobody relies on a party to be a balanced healthy meal for a child
