Are fish men a scam

Just had a knock on my door and it was some bloke asking if I wanted to buy any fish. They’re not regular or expected. When I went out there was four men with the van. You’re not gonna sell enough fish to pay four men’s wages surely? AIBU to think it’s a cover for scoping out burglaries.

We used to live in a ~rough~ area in the north east, and got a knock on the door a few times from a man selling fish from a random van. I assumed it was a north east thing as it’s never happened anywhere else! No company name or uniform, having read the scam info the blokes fit that description. (I’m emetophobic and quite particular about cold foods anyway, so the chances of me buying high risk foods from a man in a tracksuit on the doorstep are zero.)

They can check if they have a peddlers certificate

@CremeBrulee so he comes with his 3 mates randomly?

Oh obviously we should all be calling up 101 every time we see:

  • Anyone trying to sell goods door to door
  • More than 3 men in a van
  • anyone selling fish (must be bugger for Tesco's fish counter)

Because the police are underworked and have that spare time to constantly 'log' everything....
