Hi all, just a quick question. I have been employed since Dec 2017 in UAE. Not been issued with a contract (although UAE law stipulates that it must be issued within 3 months) followed it up a number of times, eventually got contract. Contract stated wrong information such as start date being 5 months after my actual date of joining, pay rise as promised not mentioned, different branch listed and weekends off listed as just one day. They also have my original certificates which they have refused to give back (I was falsely lead to believe it was for paperwork and they would be returned) Aibu to withdraw from the offer or work for another 2 years? (If I proceed with this contract there’s a huge gap in my career history due to the late start date on the contract, If I choose to leave I will have to pay 45 days gross salary to employer as per uae law as it’s a limited contract and I could be faced with a one year employment ban) would you sign it?

I would suggest you need proper legal advice from someone who knows employment law in UAE. It’s a shitty situation to be in and you have my sympathy, but especially with so much money at stake, you really need professional advice

Thank you.. I’m just not sure if I should sign it and be liable for 45days if they choose to implement the new contract which they are trying to assure me that I’m just worrying too much or if I should just say I have to leave now without being legally bound to paying a penalty
