Bizarre one-upmanship

I have an acquaintance who has had EVERY pregnancy ailment/experience I have mentioned but obviously her stories are more dramatic. Some of them are even contradictory to things she has previously stated 🙄

  • I had hyperemesis so obviously she was admitted to hospital for a week on a drip and was dangerously unwell.
  • I had a UTI so obviously she had one and it caused premature labour.
  • I started showing quite early but she started showing ‘at six weeks’.
  • I felt the baby move quite early. Obviously hers was earlier.
  • Her birth was very difficult and traumatic apparently...
  • She’s one of those people who ‘love giving birth’ and really enjoyed it
I don’t think my experiences are particularly special or abnormal but surely she can’t have had everything the same... but worse!

I can’t be the only person who knows someone like this?!

She enjoyed a difficult and traumatic birth? Really?

What about it did she enjoy most, the difficulty or the trauma?

I didn't know a one-upper, I knew a one-downer, SIL. Everything that I had, she could never have as good or as nice. It got to the stage I told her nothing because I would set her off moaning. SIL is MIL's goldenchild and I'd hear it from both of them. Argh!
