Not sure if its me but my friend constantly clutches her vape and puffs on it almost constantly in my house/car etc. It gives me a headache. she says this is rubbish there are no hazards of passive vaping.
AIBU to ask her not to vape in my house/car?
I have done several times but she Forgets/ignores the next time.

My partner vapes all the time. There are certain flavours that are forbidden because they give me a headache. It's the same with certain smelly candles or air fresheners though... I think it's just a similar thing. Some scents are repellent! Ask her to try a different flavour around you.

ReginaldMolehusband · 16/05/2018 12:17

Probably not what you're after but no evidence of harm from "passive vaping". Still, it's your house so if you don't approve of your mate not smoking then ask her not to vape.

In your house and car YANBU

My best friend vapes, I don’t like the smell or want my house filled with clouds of “vapour” so she’s not allowed to vape in my house. In her house/car or outside, she does what she wants, which is fair enough. Although if she thought it was making me ill she would refrain. Because she cares about me and isn’t a dick.

birdladyfromhomealone · 16/05/2018 12:19

Yep I hate the smell, its sickly sweet like shisha pipe, its blueberry apparently. She seems to think IABU asking her to not vape in my car.

The smell of dh's vape gives me a headache so I don't allow him to do it around me. Just because something isn't harmful doesn't mean it can't cause ill effects. I get ill from some perfumes, candles etc too.

birdladyfromhomealone · 16/05/2018 12:20

Its seems to not be coincidental I have a headache in her company?

Lots of “smellies” give me a headache, and make me feel sick. Car air fresheners for example, make me quite ill! It’s quite possible the smell is giving you a headache.

This isn’t about whether her vaping is a health hazard. It’s about the fact the smell doesn’t agree with you. So no, YNBU to ask her not to do it in your house and car.

ReginaldMolehusband · 16/05/2018 12:27

If this is the same friend who clutched her vape constantly and gave you headaches nearly two years ago then maybe be more forceful in your approach.

FatBallsAndSunflowerSeeds · 16/05/2018 12:29

OP I suggest you eat a particularly flatulence-inducing meal (artichokes, sprouts, curry etc) then get in an enclosed space with your friend and release your noxious fumes. You could do this in her house but preferably in a small space where she is trapped, such as a car or lift. When she protests tell her that scientific tests have shown farting to have no effects to health.

ClumsyFool · 16/05/2018 12:37

YANBU it’s your house/car so it’s up to you what you allow. I wouldn’t vape in someone’s car/house unless they actually told me to feel free. I don’t actually ask as I don’t want to put them in an awkward position of saying no if they would rather I didn’t do it. It’s not about any harm/risk it’s about courtesy, same as I wouldn’t do it inside with kids or pregnant women, just wouldn’t seem right.

DeathByGlamour · 16/05/2018 12:49

Are you sure it's not just your friend giving you a headache? 😂
