To go commando?

I'm wearing a dress without tights today and my pants are making a constant break for freedom.

Wibu to ditch them as the dress is pretty long and barring a sudden hurricane i'm unlikely to flash anyone?

If the pants should happen to fall down just elegantly step out of them and carry on about your business as if they have nothing to do with you.

Auldspinster · 15/05/2018 11:31

I'm at work just now but am having a drink with a gentleman friend afterwards.

tradervictoria · 15/05/2018 11:54

Would that be your grandson? As he is a gentleman he will not notice.

tradervictoria · 15/05/2018 11:55

*Great nephew, of course, since you are spinster.

WeWere0nABreak · 15/05/2018 12:03

Your bum, your business!

(Just steer clear of any vents, esp if your dress is iconic white!!)

InspMorse · 15/05/2018 12:10

Nip out and buy some smaller pants?

Auldspinster · 15/05/2018 12:30

Strangely i think my gentleman friend might like if i lost the pants.

Hmm
liz70 · 15/05/2018 13:27

So now we have a knickerless troll? Confused watch my post disappear now

InspMorse · 15/05/2018 13:33

Auldspinster
I don't think MN in the middle of the day is going to give you the thrilling responses you crave OP.
As you can see from your slow moving AIBU - nobody cares what you do really. I doubt your 'friend' does either.

HopeMumsnet · 15/05/2018 13:45

Hi all. Just to clarify, Auldspinster is an MNer who has been with us a good while. We can't comment on the state of her undercracker elastic but we don't think that she is a troll. Smile

InspMorse · 15/05/2018 13:48

In that case, go for it OP Grin Grin

liz70 · 15/05/2018 13:51

"we don't think that she is a troll"

I see, well, that's fair enough. You can't be too careful these days, I always say.

ElderflowerWaterIsDelish · 15/05/2018 13:56

It all depends on the fit of the dress (will it be obvious that you have gone commando, remember material can look opaque indoors and can look totally different in daylight or under certain lights)

Also if you have to bend over to get something or sit across from somebody, will there be enough material to not flash them..?

LockedOutOfMN · 15/05/2018 13:57

Longer/looser dress without pants is fine!

Shampaincharly · 15/05/2018 13:59

Can you just buy a pair of tights?

Shampaincharly · 15/05/2018 14:00

Just imagine, if you had an accident? The shame of arriving at hospital with no pants. OMG.

iklboo · 15/05/2018 14:05

Just imagine, if you had an accident? The shame of arriving at hospital with no pants. OMG.

Hopefully the medical team will be far too concerned with any injuries than a well ventilated undercarriage Grin

DearTeddyRobinson · 15/05/2018 14:37

Um just buy some pants that actually fit?

Auldspinster · 15/05/2018 14:39

Loose, below the knee black dress and a mumsnet old hand.

I've kept them on so far. Work in the arse end of noowhere or i probably would have grabbed some more snug undercrackers.

WowserBowser · 15/05/2018 14:40

Just do it. Life's too short - who gives a fuck. Even on the the off chance that someone will see your minge other your gentleman friend, you'll live

Auldspinster · 15/05/2018 14:42

i did have the dubious pleasure of having to go to A&E after a period flood wearing hideous leopard print tanga pants that my mum had bought me years before - not my finest moment.

OP posts:
shirking9to5 · 15/05/2018 14:45

i would - i sympathise - the no VPL pants that are great under trousers/leggings are especially prone to the downward roll! I nearly lost mine on the way to drop the DC off to nursery this morning (unexected hot weather here caused precipitate leggings abandonment and poor pant selection)

ShatnersBassoon · 15/05/2018 14:48

Put a safety pin in your knicker elastic. To go commando could outrage public decency, and it also increases your chance of being run over by a bus and rushed to hospital.

Auldspinster · 15/05/2018 14:49

I normally wear tights or trousers so i didn't know the breeks would attempt to break for freedom. I have no waist to speak of and they're hipsters so there's nothing for them to grip. Lesson learned for the future.
