To ask what your routines are for 4 month old?

My LG is 4 months, this is our routine
Between 6.30 + 7.30 wake up change and bottle, she then has a bottle every 2-3 hours and no routine with naps, she has a severe dairy allergy and bad silent reflux so usually goes off in her bouncer although we’re out a lot as I have her sister at home so we do play dates, park etc. Then a bath at 6, bottle at 6.30 and she’ll fall asleep on me then we transfer her into her bouncer (which is in the same room as us) then she’ll have a bottle at 11ish when I take her to bed this is a dream feed. She’ll normally sleep through. Lately, with her 6.30 feed she’ll full asleep then wake up 10mins later and I have to put her in the bouncer and rock her to sleep. I think she could be teething as there’s lots of dribble, bubbles and hand eating. When would you put them the sleep upstairs? We have a next to me crib which she’ll soon grow out of and her cot won’t fit in our room. Thanks if you got to the end!

Why do you think she needs a routine?

She's still little and sounds like she's eating/sleeping well enough. You've got months of teething ahead which always knocks things off.

Also there's a big sleep recession at 4 months which can knacker sleep for a while.

I think advice is to have them with you until at least 6 months. Being near people helps them regulate their breathing and protects against SIDS.

Every baby is different. I'm still co-sleeping with my 5mo boy and he'll dream feed every 2 hours or so at night so my boob is constantly out so he can latch himself on. During the day he'll wake about 7-9am depending on how tired he is, he'll feed, then ill change his nappy. He usually does a massive poop between 8-10 so depending on how early he wakes up depends how many nappy changes he has.
During the day he'll maybe have 2-3 cat naps then spend the majority of the day in his donut or bouncer but he will not fall sleep on me.

He is however starting to fall asleep at bedtime by himself. Bedtime for him is usually 10-11pm. He just doesn't seem to want to sleep.

It does sound like your baby is teething. My DS is the same. I keep a tube of bonjela nearby and occasionally rub it over his gums as much as he'll let me if he seems in more pain than usual. Other than that I just let him chew on all his toys and books. Occasioanlly he bites my nipple if the pain hits while feeding.

As for sleeping upstairs.. I was told 6 months to try controlled crying but it might be a case of seeing how your baby goes. My DS sleeps better if hes snuggled up in a blanket under a quilt, which I know I shouldn't do but he sleeps a hell of a lot more like that. I am slowly transferring him to a sleeping bag though.

I think a lose routine helps. I’m not ridged with it.

I have terrible anxiety just want to know that what I’m doing is okay I guess, letting her sleep in a bouncer in the evening

None, just went with the flow! DS2 is getting into now he’s 6 months. More active and solids help tire them out/sleep in my experience. At 4 months DS was just sleeping wherever and whenever he wanted and feeding on demand (still is).

Housequeen101 · 14/05/2018 20:31

Yh my little one feeds on demand although she’s formula fed due to allergies and reflux. But she doesn’t drink much during the day 3-4 oz every 2-3 hours, her night time feeds and morning are both 7 oz tho

My baby wakes about 8.30, would probably sleep longer but we have the school run to do. He has a 6oz bottle at least every 3 hours. He goes to bed at about 8pm with a 7oz bottle. Unlike my other two he won’t dream feed, so normally he wakes for a feed between 5 and 6am. He has a nap mid morning and at least two in the afternoon - not long naps though. I am not strict with routines though. Never have been.

Your baby sounds like it's doing amazingly. My DS seems to wake around 6.30. then it's breakfast, tidy kitchen, dress, wash, etc with toddler. Feed at 8.30 then he's crabby until I manage to get him in the car to go out around 9.30 to go out.

Then whatever really. He'll snooze in the carrier and might feed at 10 and 12. Then sleep in the car on the way home. Awake during toddlers nap (annoyingly).

After that snooze from about 7pm onwards and feed about a million times in the night.

Prusik · 14/05/2018 20:52

Oh, and he permanently sleeps on me day and night and won't sleep in the bouncer no matter what I try
