A bit worried about property

I viewed a lovely flat last week and was really impressed so the letting agent offered me to fill in an interest form, said he would pass on to landlord (he said there were a few more interest forms for landlord to consider) and he would be in touch.

He has been really lovely since then updating me that the landlord was still making a decision and then today he left a voicemail asking me to call him. He sounded really happy so I think he was telling me that the landlord was accepting my interest, but the problem is I've since seen something else and decided a garden is essential so I sent the agent an email saying thanks so much for showing me round....etc but basically I've decided the flat isn't for me.

Now I have seen the flat has 'let agreed' on their website, and I'm worried that I'm somehow tied to it now.

It definitely wasn't an application I made, I didn't pay any fees, just completed an interest form for the landlord to consider me, but I'm worried now that somehow I'm tied to the property. Please talk me down. I'm such a worrier!

You’re not tied until you sign a rental agreement.

Absolutely nothing to worry about.

It’s fine, they probably just picked the next person down the list.

Storminateapot · 14/05/2018 19:06

Of course you aren't. Presumably it was a popular property, you weren't the only person interested and they probably just went with the next on the list after you said you'd had second thoughts.

Agreeing a let involves signing contracts, not just filling in a form.

Merryoldgoat · 14/05/2018 19:07

Of course you aren’t! It just means it’s been let to someone else. Or they has enough interest to let it to someone quickly.

You are not tied to it at all.

Did you sign a rental agreement form ? If not...you are fine.
