Help! Can you retrieve a deleted text from an android phone

Shamelessly posting here for traffic.

I accidentally deleted a Very Important Text. Was trying to forward it but deleted it instead! Is there anyway I can recover it?

Is the person in your Contacts?

If you find them that way and go through your history with them you can often see texts that you've deleted from the Messages app.
