To expect my Mum to make time for Me?!

Since I moved a few hours away and can no longer just pop round, I never hear from her unless I call or message.

Out of the blue she will sometimes call me to
rant or tell me something really random.

If we do speak over the phone, she's always saying "Oh Lily, I've got to go. Kids driving me insane". Or "I'm gonna have to go, Katie is being naughty again".

Very famously, it's the usual "Lily I'll call you back, can't speak now". She never actually calls back.

Her twin lived in NZ for a few years and always recommended a Sunday morning chat. My mum is always complaining that that just wouldn't be possibly because she doesn't know how the kids will be, can't just set up a time, etc. As if my Dad isn't in existence to help keep them away whilst she speaks Confused

I'm extremely close to my Nan (who is there Monday to Friday to help with the kids), and it's sad because I now feel a very close bond with her and feel more daughter/mother relationship with her.

AIBU to say my own Mum should be more interested in chatting with me? Even if it's just once a week?
