Still awaiting my period, it's been a no show for ages. Last period was in March and still nothing?!?!
Spoke with a doctor who said I shouldn't be concerned but I think I'm now overthinking and so stressed it's delaying it even more!!!!
Anyone else had similar?!

How old are you OP? Menopause? Pregnant?

Not happened to me, no but I'm surprised the gp didn't do any tests.

wonkywednesday · 11/05/2018 14:49

I'm 30. Not pregnant or trying to get pregnant. I don't usually have irregular periods. No funny bleeding in between etc. Going through quite a stressful time so I think it may be causing it. I never thought I'd be asking my period to hurry up and start!

Stress can raise a hormone called lact something - it's a breastfeeding hormone usually so affects periods! I know because it happened to me. My cycle eventually settled once I was a bit less stressed ☺️

Thanks I'm not overly concerned as the doctor isn't. So I'm hoping after my dissertation of handed in my stress levels will be much much lower!!!

Stress prevents ovulation which then prevents periods. It’s so you don’t get pregnant during dangerous/risky/stressful situations which would risk baby. Evolutionary magic Grin

That is so interesting @ZibbidooZibbidooZibbidoo
I also think it calmed me down a bit! Period arrived this morning, finally!!

But women have become pregnant in incredibly stressful situations, while being held captive for prolonged periods and repeatedly raped, for example.......

Of course they have. It isn’t an automatic switch off where as soon as a woman is a bit antsy the uterus shuts down. All women are different and their bodies respond differently. It also doesn’t last forever because ultimately the purpose of the human body is to procreate so the body will adjust to the stress and work with that as the new “normal” in order to ovulate and produce a baby.

Hi Wonky,
Glad your period arrived!
In the run up to our wedding I didn’t have periods for 3 months. Guess when it arrived? Yep! Wedding day!

Ain’t stress a wonderful thing. Not.
