I've just been into a cafe near my office for some soup. The girl at the counter was making up a sandwich and added tomatoes to a roll filled with chicken mayo, then decided she'd added too much tomato so removed some and put it back in the tub of tomatoes, covered in mayo on one side. She was then buttering a cheese roll and used the same knife to cut through a meatball sub. All this was done directly on the same worktop with no chopping board.
I know they can't use a different knife for everything but AIBU to expect that they would at least avoid cross contamination between meat and veggie sandwiches? And isn't there an allergy risk here?
I didn't say anything at the time because I was just having soup and they weren't my sandwiches, but now I'm wondering if I should have!
