Sea world, how do they get away with it?

Sticking these huge intelligent animals in tanks, making them perform tricks for food - it's disgusting and I can't understand how they are allowed to continue doing this?

AIBU to think sea world and places like it should all be shut down now?

I totally agree. It's cruel and unnecessary. An animal like a killer whale is just far too large for captivity.

People will say it's justified because of the research funded by Seaworld but as far as I'm concerned that research should be funded by governments and charities without the need to torture an animal to pay for it!

People need to watch Black Fish. You'll be shocked for life and these disgusting placea will shut down.

MaryPoppinsPenguins · 11/05/2018 13:11

Blackfish (the documentary about this issue) actively encouraged people not to boycott sea world because of the welfare of the other animals there.

I believe there has been significant positive change... no more orcas will be bred and trainers no longer go into the water with them.

I think they’re putting quite a lot of money into new rides and attractions that aren’t based on animal shows.

Cross post. Yeah black fish made me proper bawl.

I went 20 years ago and I admit to thinking those enclosures were small. Didn't sit right with us. Since then, seeing the documentary, I was horrified. I'd never go again and agree that they should be closed.

I'm not happy about zoos at all. I think these animals belong in their home lands, in the wild.

I'm not an animal lover at all, can't stand dogs, but I can see this is wrong.
