To jump up and down and make a big fuss about this?

It’s a parking one, namely on pedestrian footpaths and cycle lanes outside our local High School. My DC’s are of Primary age but we have to face this every afternoon on the way home as the parents are arriving to collect. In the past month we have had two near miss incidents ourselves and witnessed three more. They cannot park on the road as it is an urban clearway so instead bump up on the pavement and park on the cycle lane. There is a park less than 5 mins walk with ample parking but they still carry on endangering our children with their selfishness.

I will keep on pestering our local neighbourhood police team, the school and political representatives until I have progress. So AIBU to make a fuss about this?

Yanbu. Can you shame the offenders by posting photos?

Bekabeech · 09/05/2018 17:49

I'd call the police non emergency number and ask them to look into it. They often do a blitz around local schools here.

Another person to contact is your local councillor, some are very good at publicising this kind of thing.

ParkingIdiots101 · 09/05/2018 17:52

Bekabeech done all that on weekly basis and just get “We’re looking into it replies”. Starting to think it’s going to take a serious incident at this rate ffs!

Complain to the head teacher. That is what sorted a similar situation for me.

Stickers on the windscreen " please do not park here parents with small children cannot get past"

you aren't damaging the car but its inconvenient for people to have to scrape them off.

Be careful mummymeister. It could still be damage. No criminal damage means they’d have to be removed with minimal or no effort. Scraping off stickers takes time and effort. I agree with the sentiment though.

If your councillors don't take it seriously - then see if their opposition will - this is exactly the kind of thing that can turn into a political campaign.

Many towns and areas have "parking like a t**t" groups on Facebook. It might be worthwhile posting pictures on those.
