How do I become less attractive?

... to INSECTS, that is Grin

It’s been summer for all of ten minutes and I’m covered in insect bites that always swell up. I could quite cheerfully hack my right leg and arm off right now they’re so itchy.

Please help meeeee??

You could become a man. They bite men less, apparently.

Littleredboat · 08/05/2018 22:27

Fucking MEN get all the luck.

FrankieBee · 08/05/2018 22:28

I never get bitten

Have just been to netball and haven’t got one bite. Everyone else has loads!

Something to do with microorganisms/germs on the skin apparently

PestymcPestFace · 08/05/2018 22:28

Avon, skin so soft body oil, one of the best insect repellents there is.

Littleredboat · 08/05/2018 22:28

Germs???

What do I need? Less germs? More germs???? I’d consider rolling in shit right now if it would fix it...

I’m not sure how you’d lose your allure, but have you taken an antihistamine to alleviate the itching?

PapaLazarousWife · 08/05/2018 22:29

Eat lots of garlic, apparently this helps!

WelcomeToGilead · 08/05/2018 22:29

Fags

CarysMa · 08/05/2018 22:29

Vitamin B capsules?

Or is it Vitamin E?

I did it years ago before I went to Turkey and I think it worked. I wasn't bitten alive.

Smellylittleorange · 08/05/2018 22:29

Marmite....eat lots of marmite

grumpy4squash · 08/05/2018 22:29

Jungle Spray is quite good.

Littleredboat · 08/05/2018 22:30

I’ve got some of the Avon SSS.
I think it helps a bit though I still get bites but it smells horrid.

Mind you I spose rolling in shit would smell worse...

Was about to suggest picking your nose if you want to put a man off youSmile

I have heard that eating bananas puts off mosquitoes.

BrieAndChilli · 08/05/2018 22:31

Not sure best thing to stop them but if you can find an electric note zapper (it’s a little yellow thing with a button) it uses a electric spark to zap your bite and stop it itching. I find it really helps.

justforthisthread101 · 08/05/2018 22:35

You need this in your life.

I used to be a slave to anything containing Deet but stopped when I had the children as it’s so toxic and started using this. I attract every insect in a 5 mile radius and this really helps.

BlondeB83 · 08/05/2018 22:35

Watching this thread with interest! I’m like an insect McDonald’s! Confused

SomeKnobend · 08/05/2018 22:38

Me too op, I am delicious as fuck apparently, bastards! I heard there was a perfume used as a 'control' in tests of insect repellent effectiveness, and it turned out to be more effective than any of the repellents. Sadly I can't remember which perfume it was or where I read it. Probably an urban myth.

NatalieRushman · 08/05/2018 22:42

Victoria's secret bombshell perfume. Apparently. I've been meaning to try it out ever since I read about it!

KC225 · 08/05/2018 22:44

I swear they crawl across people to get to me. I remember being told as a child, they like sweet blood, which is rubbish but apparently they are more attracted to certain blood groups.

Kintan · 08/05/2018 22:46

What blood group are you - O negs get bitten the most or at least they react the worst (this is purely anecdotal evidence btw).

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 08/05/2018 22:47

They love me, especially mosquitos. Apparently they can smell sweat, so frequent showering helps. They are also attracted to heat, so cool people fair better, but there's nothing I can do about that unfortunately.

FrangipaniBlue · 08/05/2018 22:47

On the advice of the doctor who did my travel vaccinations I took vit B in the run up to and while I was in central Mexico, also used jungle formula spray - I wasn't bitten even once.

I've also noticed I don't seem to get bitten in the UK when I'm taking vit B

SmellsLikeMiddleAgeSpirit · 08/05/2018 22:48

I too am a magnet, and my bites swell and go horrible!

Keep yourself really really clean.... they especially are attracted to smelly feet! And wear perfume to disguise the smell of being a living thing.

DD used Skin So Soft while in the outback.... said it worked well.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 08/05/2018 22:48

I once got bitten by mozzies over 40 times on my legs while I slept. DH who was sleeping beside me on the same bed didn't get bitten at all.

TeatimeForTheSoul · 08/05/2018 22:48

Don’t know but if you find out please tell me too!!!
Supposedly vitamin B1 (marmite) helps, no effect for me. The Avon stuff didn’t work either. Have worked out DH does get bitten but just doesn’t react as much as me (any insect bite gets 5-10 cm red itchy lump for me). So I just take loads of antihistamines.
