WIBU to apply for this temporary job?

I've seen a job I really like and it ticks all the boxes, allowing me to work and spend time with the kids. Problem is that it's only a year's contract with the possibility of going on longer.
My current job is fine, it also allows me to spend time with kids but is permanent. Current job has much longer commute.
We could survive money wise if I got the new job and it finished after a year but I worry I'd not find something as good as I currently have!

No harm in applying! Sometimes year contracts can be extended anyway! Apply and see if you get any further
