To detest manspreaders?

Currently sat on a bus next to a guys in shorts he has his legs wide open and I'm perched on the edge. There are no other seats. Yesterday I was on a hot train and there was another one at it. I've tried jostling him a bit but to no avail. Makes me sick.

YABU.

They need the extra room for their spacious balls.

IHeartKingThistle · 08/05/2018 09:12

Call him on it!

PatrickMerricksGoshawk · 08/05/2018 09:15

YANBU. Stop perching on the edge though. Polite jostling won't work. Tell him.

TooTrueToBeGood · 08/05/2018 09:16

It's good old fashioned bad manners. Instead of jostling and being all passive aggressive, you might have more success just firmly but politely telling him to move his legs out of your space.

IWantMyHatBack · 08/05/2018 09:16

Tell him to move!

ohamIreally · 08/05/2018 09:17

Managed to move seats next to a woman in shorts who had her legs politely closed. Looking round nearly all the men are doing it

YANBU- I detest all personal space invaders - male or female.

Idontdowindows · 08/05/2018 09:19

I've become less and less tolerant of this type of behaviour from anyone (and I wasn't very tolerant to begin with).

So I know just tell 'em to move over, they're not carrying balls big enough to need that much space.

Then again, as a little old lady I get away with a lot more :D

Titterofwit · 08/05/2018 09:20

Push back. You need your half of the seat too so push your knee against his. Or your bag on the floor against his foot. Keep shifting in your seat so he doesn't get the idea you are passively accepting his intrusion into your space .Every time you move you gain another bit of ground. He will either move to his own side or get up and leave you to it.

CocoPuffsInGodMode · 08/05/2018 09:29

Yes I hate this. I often think that's one fucker of an STI you've picked up there if your balls are so tender and inflamed they require that amount of space.

Furano · 08/05/2018 09:32

I hate manspreaders too.

I call them out on it with a big smile "hiiiiiiiii, please could you close your legs a bit and keep to your own seat rather than press against my leg? Thank you so much"

Furano · 08/05/2018 09:33

I often fantasize about jeans with retractable 1cm long spikes I could use to protect my legs from fuck face entitled manspreaders.

I had a male student fall asleep beside me on the Inverness to Perth bus once, taking up two thirds of the twin seat space and nearly squashing me half to death. Hmm I shoved him back off me as hard as I could with my arm and elbow. He woke up (briefly) and got the message.

It seems to me that many men seem to have little to no concept or concern of how their presence impacts on those around them, in contrast to women who are constantly (or at least expected to be) conscious of this. That does piss me off.
