I’m currently sat in the kitchen doing some work. The kids 3 and 7 they are watching tv, playing with toys wandering in and out of the garden. DH is sitting on the sofa watching/playing on his mobile with his headphones on. AIBU to think this isn’t right, if it was another adult I’d say it was rude, the kids are fine but I feel as though he’s shutting them out. It’s making me feel uncomfortable working that I should be playing with them, but if I don’t work on this now I’ll be up late tonight.

Eh? What's wrong with anything? What do you want him to do?

Everyone gone mad in the sun this weekend?

Nicknacky · 06/05/2018 17:39

What is the problem exactly? Is he not allowed to relax if you are working?

WomanEqualsAdultHumanFemale · 06/05/2018 17:40
Confused

Man relaxes at home while children play and wife works.

Shocker.

It’s a scene that is being played out up and down the country as we type.

Who works on a bank holiday Sunday? More fool you tbh

NorthernKnickers · 06/05/2018 17:42

Are the children unhappy? If not, I'm not understanding your post.

Pengggwn · 06/05/2018 17:44

So, if I am understanding you correctly, an adult supervising children needs to be interacting with them all the time? Constantly? Never a down moment or time for the kids to play on their own? Poor kids!

Fair enough then, it’s the headphone I have an issue with but happy to be told I’m wrong, thank you.

Depends if he takes charge when required or expects you to. As long as he’s keeping half an eye and sorts out grazed knees, quarrels and food, he gets to parent how he sees fit - (even if it’s not that great)

Bubblysqueak · 06/05/2018 17:49

But would he not be disturbing your work if he wasn't wearing them

RoseWhiteTwat · 06/05/2018 17:49

If you keep posting instead of working you'll be up even later.

Nicknacky · 06/05/2018 17:54

Why are the headphones an issue, they aren’t babies?
