Since they implemented the carrier bag charges I haven't seen/heard anything to suggest where the money the made is being spent. Does anyone know?
Thanks

Does it matter?

I've noticed (well aware this isn't data) that people - both customers and shops - are much more careful with the use of bags.

Part of the charge goes to the government in VAT, then the retailer can deduct administrative costs and the remainder should be donated to charity.

The money was supposed to go to good causes. It looks like most of it does.

I work for a charity that has just been given £4000 from Tesco due to the carrier bag charge. If you ask for a blue token in tesco they will let you vote for which charity you think it should go to. I think Asda is the same.
