To expect a call

I had a job interview on Tuesday which I think went pretty well. I didn’t ask when we would hear as assumed it would be pretty quickly as they were only interviewing that day. 24 hours passed so I rang them on Wednesday for some feedback. They told me they would be making their decision in the next couple of days. We’re now on Friday afternoon and still nothing. I realise this doesn’t look good and I haven’t got the job, but surely they can pick up the phone and put me out of my misery.

I’d wait until the end of next week before chasing it up.

Most jobs don't call all of the applicants to tell them they didn't get the job. There could be dozens of applicants. And let's be honest it's not a nice conversation to have.

Next time ask something like ' if I don't hear by Friday does that mean I didn't get the job?' At least this way you'll know when you can stop hoping and move on to the next job.
