What do you do when your baby takes a nap

I'm about to go stuff my face, prep tea and then watch Jezza Kyle whilst my 1 year old naps
What do you do when your child has their morning sleep?

Morning nap is usually 40 minutes so by the time I’ve thought about doing something productive he’s awake 😬

This morning he’s been asleep 2 hours and counting though, I’ve sorted the dishwasher and watched too much Greys Anatomy. Wish I’d done the ironing though...

ThaiRedCurry · 04/05/2018 10:46

@PenApple oh so you're a productive stay at home mummy, I bet my partner wishes one of those lived in our house Wink

I’m eating crisps and watching homes under the hammer.

user1498549192 · 04/05/2018 10:47

Stay trapped underneath him as he will only nap on me Blush

MissClarke86 · 04/05/2018 10:47

I always dream of having a nap too but try to use it as a time to cook my lunch and eat in peace in front of the TV.

Often we’re out in the car when she naps though so I can’t do much!

Dentalwimp · 04/05/2018 10:50

I watch TV and eat lunch in peace. It's great.

0lgaDaPolga · 04/05/2018 10:53

I’m having a lie down in my bed. I’m 9 weeks pregnant and absolutely knackered so getting rest while I can until he is awake again and chaos ensues.

Orlofina · 04/05/2018 10:55

My one year old only naps in the pram, so am generally walking or sitting on a park bench. Hmm

Notsooriginalwerther · 04/05/2018 10:56

Sometimes I do my hair, sometimes I just eat wagon wheels and weetabix whilst watching This Morning.

Better make a start on my hair.

jaseyraex · 04/05/2018 10:58

At the moment I've been napping along with my toddler. He's a good napper, he still does two hours in the afternoon. I'm heavily pregnant and utterly exhausted and definitely enjoying the extra sleep.

Usually I'd get a little cleaning done in peace or play some Xbox/watch TV in peace Grin

Anxiousally · 04/05/2018 10:58

Sit and pray that he will continue taking naps for a months when the new baby arrives in 3 weeks...

bloomsburyer · 04/05/2018 10:59

Watch trashy tv as she sleeps on my lap!

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 04/05/2018 11:00

This time in the morning I'd have been half way round Sainsbury's.

EssentialHummus · 04/05/2018 11:01

Work. I wish her naps were a bit longer!

pastabest · 04/05/2018 11:05

I'm currently 34 weeks pregnant so I'm doing a lot more sitting in the sofa mumsnetting than normal but my 15 mo still has 2 x 2 hour naps during the day so plenty of time to get things done.

I always clean the kitchen, do the dishwasher have a shower and put some washing on during the morning nap, and do any jobs that don't need an inquisitive and bouncy 15 mo 'helping' with them.

During the afternoon I'm more likely to be found sitting on the sofa worn out but I will usually also be doing something like paperwork for our business or folding clothes at the same time and mumsnetting in between.

Most housework jobs the 15mo likes 'helping' with though so I do tend to save them for when she is awake. I'm hoping to have her fully trained by the time her sibling gets here in a few weeks... Grin

EdmundCleverClogs · 04/05/2018 11:05

I used to do housework or catch up with tv programs/play some PlayStation. My now 2 year old still naps, however as soon as he’s out, my 4 month old wakes up. I’m so knackered these days, I’m usually asleep by 10pm (at the latest), so hardly do anything ‘for me’ at the moment. It will get easier again (I hope!), just need to synchronise their naps Grin.

prettygirlincrimsonrose · 04/05/2018 12:57

Naps are usually around 30 minutes on the way somewhere so normally I carry on driving/walking/sitting on the bus. At home that's when I get round to sorting breakfast/lunch and sometimes try and get a job done or treat myself with a bit of reading/TV.

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 04/05/2018 13:00

I've just mowed the lawn & tidied the garden during my 9mo nap. The 2yo sat & watched me imperiously while eating cheese snips Grin

BasilTheCat · 04/05/2018 20:06

I enjoy a nice quiet wee and a hot coffee. While I crack into revision for the exam I need to take at work when I return from mat leave Sad

IHateToCashew · 04/05/2018 20:08

Do a victory dance Grin
