To want to change back

I was working in an industry with long hours, unpaid overtime, little benefits, low pay, redundancies every few months, verbal abuse on a daily basis and no recognition.

But the buzz and the thrill made it all worth it, until it was my turn to face the chopping block.

I decided I needed something with prospects, higher salary, reasonable hours and security. Something slightly similar but also different.

But now I’ve done that I’m missing what I had before. I used to enjoy work and now I really don’t. I am literally counting down the minutes until the end of the work day, and I don’t get the thrill or the buzz I used to. I also miss the environment, and I feel I don’t ‘fit in’ to my new job.

I’m thinking of trying to change back, but I’m unsure if and how I can do this afternoon leaving the industry. Has anyone ever changed jobs and then changed back to their original course?
