To think a size 6 is not Medium?

Following lots of recommendations on MN I ordered a pair of Mint Velvet black leggings. Ordered from House of Fraser and opted for a medium. Reviews online said these were great for a size 12. And a size 14 would be large. So I went for medium as I'm between a 10 and a 12 at the moment.

Opened them this morning and the outer tag says Mint Velvet M LG Black Straight Legging but they looked tiny Confused - even just holding them up I could see they would be too small.
The inside tag is a New Look tag sized UK6.

Is this an error by House of Fraser or am I just totally ordering the wrong size here. Anyone else wear Mint Velvet and can advise?

So there were New Look leggings inside a MV bag? Surely that’s just an error in packaging.

mither · 03/05/2018 11:37

The size wouldn't be my worry.

I would assume the wrong product had been sent completely as the label doesn't match the description.

Blobby10 · 03/05/2018 11:38

Or the same factory produces leggings for both brands and were mislabelled?

MyFriendFlickaWasAHorse · 03/05/2018 11:38

It must be an error if you ordered MV and got New Look. Call them maybe?

xyzandabc · 03/05/2018 11:40

They are new look size 6 leggings then. You have been sent the wrong product. Contact customer services and ask them to send the right ones.

TheMagicTorch · 03/05/2018 11:41

@blobby10 I'm thinking that might be most likely, the mint velvet tag was attached to the leggings themselves rather than the bag.

@MyFriendFlickaWasAHorse @xyzandabc Thanks think I'll email House of Fraser and see if they can help - typical that I wanted them to wear this weekend.
Thanks all x

Or Mint Velvet leggings are exactly the same as New Look ones and they got mixed up with labelling?!

emoshional · 03/05/2018 11:48

I have Mint Velvet leggings; the ones is your picture are most definitely New Look leggings with the wrong label attached.

Also, I'm a size 10/12 and MV medium leggings are a perfect fit for me. They're a great buy! Hope you get it sorted soon.

emoshional · 03/05/2018 11:48

*the ones IN your picture

EveningHare · 03/05/2018 11:51

Did you pay £15?

Aeroflotgirl · 03/05/2018 11:54

The same thing happened with a Pepe Denim skirt this week. I am between a 12-14, so chose large. The skirt that came said large, but was big enough to fit a size 8, hence I had to send it back. I ordered Pepe Denim shorts in waist 32 and they were massive on me, so thought the skirt would fit the same.

Iggiattheend · 03/05/2018 11:56

I am not getting what you are asking. Obviously if the label on the actual garment is NL then they are not made by MV. The size is irrelevant really the NL ones would be a lot cheaper so why would you accept them even if they fitted!

TheMagicTorch · 03/05/2018 11:58

@emoshional oh that's great - will definitely try and get it sorted so I get an actual pair of MV as I had read on here they were great too. At least I know a medium will be the right size if they send me them! Thanks xx

@EveningHare They were 20% off so I paid £12.00 but they would have been £15 full price.

Iggia many items of clothing are bulk made in the same place (usually overseas) and just labelled with different names. You wont get all MV clothes made in a factory which only makes MV clothes!

Its the same with foodstuffs - M & S biscuits(example only - other brands are available!) are made in the same factory as Tesco (another example only!) biscuits but will be packaged and boxed as M & S.

emoshional · 03/05/2018 12:08

@TheMagicTorch No worries! They have a fab wide waistband which sucks everything in Blush They're my favourite things ever.

LiquidCosh · 03/05/2018 12:10

Are you sure the medium fits a size 12 OP? Only it says in the description here that the model in the 2nd picture is wearing a medium and she looks like a small 10 or 8 to me.

SallyOMalley · 03/05/2018 12:15

I'm not sure the sizing is the issue here!

I think someone has bought NL leggings AND bought MV leggings online. They've then returned the NL leggings in the MV packaging for a refund. Bingo - MV leggings for the price of NL ones. Nice.

Years ago, I bought a posh toaster, go it home and took it out of the box to find it was a much cheaper brand inside. Even had toast crumbs in it!

TheDishRanAwayWithTheSpoon · 03/05/2018 12:22

I think theyve just had a packaging error and accidentally labelled nl size 6 as mv medium leggings.
liquidCosh I swear models always wear a size 10 in the description no matter what size they are, she's also 5'10. Take what the model wears with a pinch of salt, why would you look at the model and not the reviews of people your actual size who have bought them?

OnTheList · 03/05/2018 12:56

Nah, medium to me would be a size 10.

Small would be a 6.

Large 14+

Or thats how its always worked out when I am buying clothes anyway.

brogueish · 03/05/2018 13:00

I've had similar with HoF before - was sent something quite different, although the outer packaging was labelled as what I had ordered. It's a warehouse issue, just contact them and ask them to fix it.

Aeroflotgirl · 03/05/2018 13:07

Oh yes, my denim skirt was House of Fraser.

FemaleDilbert · 03/05/2018 13:15

I reckon HOF orders are fulfilled in the same warehouse as NL and a picker has ballsed up

isseywithcats · 03/05/2018 13:16

According to everything five pounds . com im a large because i order size ten, lol size 4 or 6 is a small on their site
