To not go to work?

I have an infection and on antibiotics - I feel shit.

My manager seems to think one day is enough to feel better

Depends on how you actually feel. I’ve had infections and felt better after first 2 doses of anti biotics. I’ve also had infections and it taken 6 weeks to feel better.

Obviously depends on exactly what infection you have, and the severity of your symptoms, but in general I would think 2-3 days off whilst the antibiotics kick in would be reasonable.
