To think I could write a book?!

I have a lot of experience in a field which I am very passionate about. I am in the midst of writing a book which is aimed at children. It began as a bit of fun but I want to see how far it could go I realise I’m probably pipe dreaming and that’s okay. I’m a tough cookie or my cookie and can handle rejection! But, how do I go about getting it published? Who do I approach? Any advice is much appreciated
