Spot the errors on the official slips from the Dfe for the SPAG SATs papers!

Maybe their staff should take the test as most year 6's would spot these errors!

To think this is the ultimate irony?

Oh dear Grin.

tinytemper66 · 02/05/2018 06:46

Year 6s - no need for an apostrophe. 😊

Pengggwn · 02/05/2018 07:07

Does this not simply underline the fact that the average adult living in the UK has flawed spelling, punctuation and grammar and therefore the need for SATS? I mean, it's probably not Salman Rushdie writing this, is it? It's probably a member of an admin team on £14K a year.

MongerTruffle · 02/05/2018 07:08

YABU, because most year 6's is the ultimate irony.

stayingaliveisawayoflife · 02/05/2018 07:18

Oops blame early start, I only teach year two, auto correct on my phone........!!!!!

Right, it’s early and at the risk of looking like a twat - what is the error? Is it the fact that the box has been ticked where they’re asking for confirmation of how many boxes you’ve received?

YouTheCat · 02/05/2018 07:28

If someone can't manage to proof read that kind of thing before it gets sent out, then that's so shit.

Lovestonap · 02/05/2018 07:45

receieved??

WhatCanIDoNowPlease · 02/05/2018 07:51

number of pack received

ThisIsNotARealAvo · 02/05/2018 07:52

Pack and received! Oh dear.

educatingarti · 02/05/2018 07:52

Actually Year 6's is how I was taught to deal with plural s when it follows initials or numbers ( SAT's, 1960's). It was the correct way to do it in the 1960's and 1970's. The change is relatively recent and using the apostrophe isn't actually incorrect, just old-fashioned!

OlafLovesAnna · 02/05/2018 07:55

I always understood that either 6s or 6's would be correct- it's a matter of style preference.

Is that incorrect?

WhatCanIDoNowPlease · 02/05/2018 08:01

Ooh yes, and the spelling of received!

Fintress · 02/05/2018 08:15

Oh dear, definitely ironic.

AgentProvocateur · 02/05/2018 08:23

I’m reading a book - edited and printed by a reputable publisher - that’s got several apostrophes in pluralised words. It’s marring my enjoyment of it. Wink

Dyrne · 02/05/2018 08:32

Ooh, I see now! Blush
