To Want To Buy Dungarees?

For myself.

I’m mid 40’s. Size 6

Keep imaging wearing them in the summer looking ‘jaunty’ & relaxed.

Has that ship sailed though ?

Am mid 40s (well, late mid 40s!), but not a size 6, would love to get some but fear I'll end up looking like Mille Tant from Viz, or a random oldie from Dexy's Midnight Runners. Could cope with latter but not former! Go for it!! Smile

Idontdowindows · 01/05/2018 09:08

Nah, the ship has never sailed, but I couldn't be doing with the faffing about when needing a pee :D

LittleMysPonytail · 01/05/2018 09:14

The ship has definitely not sailed!

I’m spending this summer in jumpsuits (ASOS have some great ‘minimal’ ones)and dungarees. They’re great - I’m comfy yet look put together all at the same time.

If you’re going for dungarees I’d suggest ones with a relaxed but not baggy leg as the tight ones can make you feel trapped especially when it’s hot.

Babyplaymat · 01/05/2018 09:16

I want some. At a size 16 am not sure I can pull them off though

AnotherBoringSaturday · 01/05/2018 09:33

I’d forgotten about the going to the loo malarkey but figure it can’t be as bad as going to the loo when ‘bodies’ were the must haves
@LittleMysPonytail - will be checking Asos out today thank you

Dungarees are the comfiest things ever! I bought some last year. I'm size 18-20 and am nearly 50!

Callamia · 01/05/2018 09:37

I saw a woman who was probably in her sixties wearing bright red cropped dungarees the other day. She looked completely aces. I still wear my maternity ones. I love them.

fantasmasgoria1 · 01/05/2018 09:42

I’m 43 and I have some skinny black ones! They look really good!

Flippetydip · 01/05/2018 09:49

Now that's made me want a pair - I used to wear them all the time at Uni. That was a good 25 years ago though. I'm a size 12 and 44 - I'm off to find a pair!

VileyRose · 01/05/2018 09:50

Get them!I love them.

Bluelady · 01/05/2018 09:53

I love them, only the weakness of my bladder prevents me. I lived in mine when I was a student.

Bluntness100 · 01/05/2018 09:53

To be honest, someone posted awhile ago that you only see women in their forties and above wearing them and I think this is predominantly true with a few exceptions. They have become a bit like a uniform for our demographic.

LittleMysPonytail · 01/05/2018 09:54

If bladder issues are there, there’s always pinafores. I know it’s not quite the same but it’s an alternative!

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 01/05/2018 09:56

I saw a colleague in her 40s wearing some denim ones recently. I’d guess she was a 12 and 5’7 tall. She looked great.

OneStepSideways · 01/05/2018 09:56

They're trendy at the moment but I still think they look like maternity wear or something for gardening in. The ones with a fitted waist look a bit better.

PugwallsSummer · 01/05/2018 09:57

I love them. Bought some when pregnant with DD2 seemed more acceptable with a bump. Husband took the puss out of me every time I wore them & put me off.

But I think they look great. A school run Mum wears a black pair with a black & white striped top and she looks amazing in them.

onelostsoulswimminginafishbowl · 01/05/2018 09:57

Try Lucy and Yak! I love their dungarees!

PugwallsSummer · 01/05/2018 09:58

piss NOT puss! There was no puss.

🙄

KnobJockey · 01/05/2018 09:59

I bought these at the weekend, a cross between a jumpsuit and dungarees, so soft and comfortable, they look much better in person too.slthough Emma Willis obviously wears them much better than me!

I had dungarees as a teenager and I wore them all the time. They started to disintegrate at the end as they had been worn so much.

I still like the idea of them but I carry my extra weight around my tummy now so I fear I would just look pregnant if I tried to wear some now.

I say if you like them and are the right shape to pull them off then go for it.

Shampooeeee · 01/05/2018 20:30

I keep dithering over whether to buy dungarees. I’m held back by the fear that I’ve turned into Adrian Mole’s mum in her radfem years.
