So went to a job interview test and was told I would be doing a in tray test only to get their and be given their

An assessment sheet and asked a serious of questions

Like what support will the clients need
What information is missing
How will you support your clients
And I hat services do you think your clients will need.

This is not what I understand a intray test to me

Also was interview was on Thursday I was told Friday or Monday heard nothing is this good or bad 😶

That sounds like an in-tray task to me

Metoodear · 30/04/2018 20:29

Also should I have found out by now been waiting all weekend and I feel full of dread

Yeh that doesn’t sound like an intray test - that’s usually a computer test where you’re sent emails and have to respond to them.

BuntyII · 30/04/2018 20:35

Sorry you've been kept waiting for so long. There's a number of possibilities, the most obvious is that they have offered the job to someone who hasn't accepted it yet. But it could be that the hiring manager has been off sick today or that kind of thing. It's horrible waiting on that phone call though.

Bluelady · 30/04/2018 20:37

An Intray exercise is usually a range of tasks which you have to prioritise and say how you'd deal with them.

Metoodear · 30/04/2018 20:39

I know I was under the impression that in tray test is a number or emails ,memos and messages
Then neededing to prioritise them

However I was given an assessment form half filled in support worker role I really threw me managed to do well but don’t get the feeling I got this one

And I saw someone I know waiting to go in 😦think it will make it extra hard if I don’t get it knowing the other person had

Who has in trays and Memo's these days???

It should be an inbox full of irrelevant emails containing attachments that you have been copied on accidentally and one email from the Grand Fromage sent at 1am copying no one and containing no actual instructions which is in the one and only thing you should be spending the next 48 hours doing!!

Sorry... not really the point of the thread or very helpful.

OliviaStabler · 30/04/2018 21:04

I've been given in tray tests before and that does not sound like one to me.

Usually you are given a brief setting the scene then lots of pieces of paper to work through, prioritize and respond to in some form or other. Sometimes they add in extra tasks part way through the time allotted to see if you can readjust your priorities.

FASH84 · 30/04/2018 23:21

It depends on the job, in my industry my team would be expected to make decisions like this daily and quickly and to prioritise how to make those decisions and what info is needed to safely assess risk and need. It sounds like a task we'd give at interview, it's a simplified version of the nightmares their inboxes fill up with every day

FASH84 · 30/04/2018 23:24

NB the type of intray tasks PPs have mentioned are usually for admin/office manager type roles, rather than operational or operational management roles this doesn't sound like an admin role, apologies if I'm wrong

FASH84 · 30/04/2018 23:27

For my lot their intray each morning could contain police intel, arrest notifications, medical evidence that requires a court amendment report to be written, an email from me to say Janet's off sick I need you to do this risk assessment/provide this urgent info to social care, now , requests to do urgent safeguarding visits or invitations to core groups.. so to give them an email prioritising or scheduling task would bear no relation to their role.

Metoodear · 01/05/2018 08:21

It’s a support worker role so I was miffed

I thought it would be safe guarding emails
Referrals
And telephone messages from schools and other professionals ect

Very strange

The assessment form I was given was not the typical emails they are separate from

Think social services assessment form

The daily emails calls and messages would be completely separate from the initial assessment form you would do with family’s

So in my view it’s not anywhere near an intray test
