i WAS settled on the 19.16 train to Marylebone from Warwick parkway in a table seat so 4 seats in in one and another young girl opposite me .. all peacefully, get to Banbury
someone appears muddysweaty and red and tries to fit enormous roll type bag in luggage rack , mud is cacked on it . it doesn't fit . he says "oh that's not gonna work then " and drops it down onto the table . it's enormous i can't see over it
i'm looking at mud !! this can't be right so i say so "you can't leave that there ... it's muddy won't it fit out the back ? he shrugs .. surely the etiquette is ... stand out the back with your muddy bag

There are luggage storage areas at the end of the carriage for exactly that.
Direct him towards one or tell him you’d be happy to go and get a conductor to assist him if needed.

I hate CF space hogging on trains.

Looneytune253 · 29/04/2018 20:15

Doesn’t look that muddy. I agree it’s not ideal but if you weren’t using the table it’s hardly the end of the world.

nannykatherine · 29/04/2018 20:19

it's the rudeness of it
and the way he dropped it there
no oh sorry
being polite would've helped a lot

Why are you giving so many details about your train journey. How is that relevant?

WorraLiberty · 29/04/2018 20:32

I was just thinking that Fruitcorner

It's bizarre

nannykatherine · 29/04/2018 20:35

Report to the police? Confused

Leopoldstotch · 29/04/2018 20:38

I'm sorry but you the police don't need their time wasted with this. Staring is annoying but it's not a crime

Thurlow · 29/04/2018 20:39

Maybe he's staring at you because you took a photo of him?

Pinga · 29/04/2018 20:40

Why are you giving so many details about your train journey. How is that relevant?

I presume because she is bored and fed up. Commenting loads here isnt doing any harm is it?

Fuss about nothing
Would you think that if you were in this situation? I wouldnt.

Geez....... scroll past if a thread doesnt interest you.

OP I would have stayed in my seat and said firmly "please leave your bag in the luggage area at the end of the carriage. You absolutely cannot leave it there"

Pinga · 29/04/2018 20:41

Dont report to the police though. Thats seriously OTT.

YANBU. That’s disgusting!

Lulusmother · 29/04/2018 20:53

Oh dear 🙄 Man sits on seat on train hold the press.

ReanimatedSGB · 29/04/2018 20:54

Sometimes, the luggage area is full so you have to have your bag with you.
Anyway, OP needs to get over herself.

allthegoodnameshadgone · 29/04/2018 20:57

Stare back

VioletCharlotte · 29/04/2018 20:57

Count yourself lucky you got a seat! It's normally standing room only when I get on a train.

Sparklesocks · 29/04/2018 21:00

You can’t report someone to the transport police for looking at you

NerrSnerr · 29/04/2018 21:10

Do you genuinely think he’s going to attack you in any way? If so then it’s probably best to move to another carriage and find the train manager/ food seller and ask them to call the police. If you just think he’s a bit annoyed so is looking at you funny then it’s probably best not to contact the police.

PerspicaciaTick · 29/04/2018 21:12

That bag is barely grubby. Definitely not caked or cacked in mud. Which makes me think you are getting a bit overexcited about a minor inconvenience.
