I saw @fernutrition come up on Instagram and it looks exactly like an MLM focusing on health in some way?? Am I interpreting it wrong??

And no, I'm not Ferne, nor do I work for anything related to her!

I googled as I had no idea who she was but, judging by the (photoshopped) 'after' pictures a Joe Wicks style subscription service is on the cards.

I don’t know who she is but just googled and found this: www.fernutrition.com pretty sure Herbalife is an MLM

SD1978 · 28/04/2018 11:22

Yup. MLM. Herbalife is the same crap, pedalling the same claims as all the rest.

Brendaofbeechhouse · 28/04/2018 11:27

According to the article I read (Sun newspaper) she is saying her 'amazing post baby weight loss" or whatever she is calling it,is down to her Mum's healthy cooking and a personal trainer. Not a peep about shakes.

Although according to her nutrition page it's shakes all the way! Maybe the poor dear has got a bit confused

biscuitraider · 28/04/2018 11:42

What's MLM?

SD1978 · 28/04/2018 11:44

@buscuittraider pyramid schemes. You sell a product and get friends to sell the product and someone somewhere gets rich whilst you juts get blocked if FB by everyone for your shady attempts to recruit them.

biscuitraider · 28/04/2018 11:46

Oh i've heard of that, they do it with makeup a lot don't they?

IntelligentYetIndecisive · 28/04/2018 11:48

Younique and Avon are famous.

Virgin Vie also do something similar as do Body Shop - although they're a bit like Ann Summers, where sellers organise parties, with wine and nibbles, to demonstrate and sell products.

cindersrella · 28/04/2018 11:51

What is MLM

biscuitraider · 28/04/2018 12:01

Sounds like it could get very annoying. I hate any type of pressure to buy something just because it's a friend.

IntelligentYetIndecisive · 28/04/2018 12:03

Multi Level Marketing

People (usually desperate women looking for extra income) are recruited and have to lay out for overpriced products which they have to sell.

However, they get paid more money by recruiting more sellers.

It's a pyramid scheme made only just this side of legal with the presence of shoddy, overpriced products which are bought and sold.

If it was simply a cash scheme like "Women Empowering Women", it would be illegal.

It's the overhyped products which prevent the organisers being done for fraud.

The products come with extravagant and sometimes false claims, especially the health and slimming products.

The sellers are encouraged to use quite despicable claims that health products could 'cure' certain diseases and certainly, the sellers who get into ever more debt, seem quite desperate.

Brendaofbeechhouse · 28/04/2018 12:16

It's an inverse funnel. It couldn't be a pyramid scheme because they are illegal. And you get business cards #blessed

Eliza9917 · 28/04/2018 12:21

Avon isn't an mlm.

NovichoksAway · 28/04/2018 12:24

“Inverse Funnel” 😂😂

Brendaofbeechhouse · 28/04/2018 12:24

Avon is, but it is one of the 'nicer' ones.

SD1978 · 28/04/2018 13:16

Ooh- never thought- so Tupperware is as well? I only ever think of the negative ones like juice plus and herbashit

Gillian78 · 03/03/2019 13:02

I totally agree with you. Avon is definitely the nicer company to work for.
