To put in a complaint about my boob job?

I recently had implants. My left breast started hurting about 3 weeks after surgery, it was hot, red and slightly painful and was weeping around the stitches.

I rang the company I went with and they book me in to see the nurse that day. I felt she was really dissmissive, she looked at my breast and said “so what exactly am I looking at?” Told it was normal and probably my just rubbing against my bra.

It got worse and I was too embarrassed by the reaction.

I went today for a normal check up and guess what it’s definitely not normal, and potentially now infected.

I paid so much money and obviously went private.

Would you complain or is it my fault?

Complain. You were dismissed by one of their team, and have developed an infection.

Absolutely complain. Post surgical infection can be deadly and should have been taken seriously from the outset.

I’ve had lots of surgeries (not cosmetic, keyhole medical procedures - 9 in total) and I’ve only had one infection which happened after surgery in a private hospital. Could be a coincidence but overall they didn’t seem to me to be as rigorous with infection control as I’ve experienced in NHS hospitals (plus the care in recovery was diabolical). Of course infections can happen wherever you have surgery for tons of reasons.

I would be making a very big complaint. Is it likely to affect how you heal?

Infection is an unfortunate potential complication but you shouldn't have had your concerns dismissed and, if not seen by a doctor, either advised to see one or provided with treatment & safety netting. Infections can be very serious and sometimes even fatal.

Complain to the clinic and, if no joy, the CQC if you're in England (Health Inspectorate Wales, Scottish Care Inspectorate or The Regulation and Quality Improvement Authority (RQIA) if in the other countries of the UK).

The signs of infection are heat, redness, swelling and loss of function ( here you could see the function of the skin as keeping the outside out, and the inside in, which if it was weeping, it wasn’t fully doing).
I can’t see how any nurse could miss those signs.
Definitely complain.

I just think I’ll get blamed for leaving it a month.

I just felt stupid after my appointment that I thought I’d get dismissed again.

I even showed her my bra at the time so she could see how it leaked and she said it was normal Sad
