to go to work with tonsillitis?

I have a very mild case of tonsillitis. I am 3 months pregnant and spoken to a doctor (family friend) who has advised that I am ok to go to work, as you cannot catch tonsillitis (only the cold that caused it) unless it becomes severe or I have a high fever.

I don't get any sick pay and really cannot afford to go off work for a week whilst it heals. AIB totally U for going in to work? Or should I avoid and be docked £500 out of my wage packet?

You're feeling fine and a doctor has advised that it's fine to go to work, so why would stopping at home be a consideration?

Children don't have a week+ off school with run of the mill tonsillitis.

The Public Health Agency states that it is not necessary for a child to miss school because of tonsillitis. My children both went to school with tonsillitis and I would certainly go to work with it (and that’s as someone who DOES get paid sick leave).

Thanks all!

@ShatnersBassoon I just wanted the opinions of those who are non medical as I didn't want to go in and have my boss give me a telling off for coming in with a virus!
