To wonder wtf causes blue sick?

Dc complained of tummy feeling "funny" and started been sick this afternoon. Started normal...all the food they had eaten. But the last 2 have been blue bile!!!

Not eaten anything blue. Coco pops for breakfast , cheese sandwich for lunch and that's it. Been drinking water.

Dc has emergency gp appointment at midnight after calling 111....so we are getting medical advice but just wondering if anyone had this at all? Because I have no clues....

The only time I’ve known something similar is when our dog ate a crayon/pencil and had quite an allergic reaction, blue sick everywhere and actually came out in hives. Not sure how old your dc is but could they have eaten a part of a crayon? Hope I don’t offend you comparing dc to a dog btw!

spicerack · 21/04/2018 22:29

bile ( which is green or yellow ) mixed with other stuff in the stomach can make blue vomit. Hope your DC is okay Smile

ThanksForAllTheFish · 21/04/2018 22:30

I’m sure a read somewhere that copper poisoning causes bright blue vomit. But if it’s a greenish blue then it sounds more like bile. Seeing the dr is sensible as it is one of those could be something or nothing kind of things.

ZigZagIntoTheBlue · 21/04/2018 22:33

I was coming on to say WKD Blue from bitter experience but it sounds like your dc are younger. Hope all is well soon, if you haven't already I'd keep a sample to show docs for testing if required

HumptyD93 · 21/04/2018 22:40

Dc is 6....no wkd lol and no eating of crayons.

We had Blue poo from my elder dc once but that was thanks to eating blue icing on their birthday cake. Never had Blue sick in 10 years of motherhood.

Any other symptoms op.
My friend had this once and it ended up being appendicitis

Hyppolyta · 21/04/2018 23:41

I also came to say blue WKD. Watermelon Bacardi Breezers made your vomit pink. misspent youth

Glad youre getting him seen, hope hes feeling better soon.

Throwaway4misc · 21/04/2018 23:47

Did you take a picture so you can show the blue? I know it sounds rank but it often helps. Hope your DC is OK

LakieLady · 21/04/2018 23:54

Any cocktail containing blue Curacao. It also gives you blue poo.

This is most alarming the morning after, when you're hungover and have completely forgotten what you were drinking the night before.

It sounds unlikely in this case, though!

Alpineflowers · 21/04/2018 23:55

Is it purpley blue? I think that might be concerning
Age 6 might down play other symptoms?
Good to get it checked out

Lougle · 22/04/2018 00:00

Was she sick in the loo? Green bile will turn blue if it mixes with some detergents. It might be that as she was more sick, she'd moved on to pure bile

pieceofpurplesky · 22/04/2018 00:04

DS has turquoise vomit after a bubblegum ice cream

Gunpowder · 22/04/2018 09:55

How is your DC this morning OP? Hope they are ok.

HumptyD93 · 22/04/2018 10:49

Sorry I didn't get back. Doctors can think of no reason for the blue sick. We took a sample with us.
He was sick in a clean jug so no toilet chemicals.

He was kept in overnight to see if he could keep fluids down so if he is fine by mid afternoon he can go home. He is fine in himself...up playing and saying he's bored. So fingers crossed. But it's still a mystery why it was blue. Wish I'd taken a pic before the doctor threw it away lol

At least hes on the mend and nearly back to normal!

You did the right thing taking him to be checked though.

Gunpowder · 22/04/2018 11:34

Oh good I’m glad he’s ok! What a mystery!

Theweasleytwins · 22/04/2018 11:48
