At being the third wheel

Went to a event last night. Mainly women there. I brought me and my Dsis tickets as her birthday present. She then brought extra tickets for my DM and her bf. Didn't mind too much but orginally was suppose to be just us two.

Anyway I couldn't get a babysitter so my DM offered to, which was lovely as I don't get out often. My Dsis was going to sell her bf ticket too but a few hours before she rang and said her bf still wanted to come. I was like ok but knew I'd be the third wheel.

When we got there you could tell he felt uncomfortable as it was mainly women. He sat down the whole time and wouldn't dance/join in. I sat there while they were kissing and cuddling feeling awkward.

AIBU to think my Dsis should have been more firm and told him it was a girls night as it was orginally suppose to be?

It was her birthday treat though...

It was rude of your sister, she obviously didn't want it to be just you two or she wouldn't have invited the others in the first place. Very rude and immature if her to do the PDA. Not much you can do about it now, should've said something to her at the time!

Shizzlestix · 21/04/2018 12:49

Horrible of her to do PDA. Are you going to have words?

stripesandspots10 · 21/04/2018 13:02

Usually me and my Dsis things on our own we are quite close. This isn't her bf thing at all really but apparently she said he really wanted to come along.

Yea PDA wasn't great. It went to a different level at one point. I was dancing looked to my left and he had his hand on her boob and kissing her! Now normally he's reserved and doesn't say too much so I was a little taken a back. So awkward!
I know I can't do much now but wanted to know if I was being unreasonable. So can say no to this type of situation in the future....

OK yeah, that's gross, I've changed my mind. YANBU.

stripesandspots10 · 21/04/2018 14:02

Ha! Thanks mean it was uncomfortable

Ugh. They sound like a pair of doughnuts. If a couple goes out with a single person (or someone not out with their DP) then they need to make an effort to make that person feel included and comfortable.

It sounds like they were behaving like they were in a date. Rude. Also the bloke seems to have been making a point - wanting to hammer home that he’s the important one.

TawnyPort · 21/04/2018 15:20

Rude of them.

Its bought by the way.
