DH cooking breakfast (which is lovely) but picked up several sausages from packet to put each into pan, then picked up sausage packet, opened fridge, moved items and put packet in fridge

Pointed out he hadn’t washed hands and his view was that I was worrying unnecessarily

We have a very little DC. AIBU?

He isn't following best practice but I bet most people do this without getting sick.

Sausagesafety · 21/04/2018 11:29

That’s true! And reassuring

Why have you name-changed to talk about something so innocuous?
Does your usual nick-name reveal that you and your H are actually chefs working in a hotel and usually prepare breakfast for the general public? Confused

God yes he needs to wash his hands. Cross contamination everywhere!

Although ‘most people’ might not get sick, the potential to get a bug that could make you ill for weeks, or even kill you eg E. coli is just not worth taking.

Your DH needs to stop being a lazy arse and risking your family’s health.

"the potential to get a bug ... is just not worth taking."

Says who?

Risk is a value judgement. Raw bacon is commonly eaten in Russia but I have a feeling you'd say it's a risk to a family's health.

Most home kitchens can be pulled apart by anyone with a basic Food and Hygiene cert.

Stop being so priggish.

Absolutely you should wash your hands after raw meat, it’s not a hard task is it really

Sausagesafety · 21/04/2018 11:48

VladmirsPoutine I’ve not really settled into a regular name so name change a lot. Though ironically DH does work in a trade relevant to the food industry! He’s not Gordon Ramsay or anything though

I’ve always been fairly relaxed about food hygiene (I thought) but did think hand washing was important
