To be so irritated with Jurassic World

I know it's now quite an old film but the children love it. However, the treatment of Clare really annoys me - she is working and has arranged for someone to look after her nephews.

She then gets a hard time off her sister for working (even though it is obvious from the film that she actually has a job to do and meetings to run). Then she gets a hard time off her boss, who tells her to take some time off and get some sun. I've had bosses like that - they still wanted all the stuff done right away.

Sorry, I just felt like a rant.

I am so irritated (jealous) that she got to kiss Chris Pratt.

CruCru · 20/04/2018 21:13

Except he also wasn't all that nice to her. He is fit though.

Justmuddlingalong · 20/04/2018 21:13

It's her running about in high heels throughout the film that boils my piss.

HumphreyCobblers · 20/04/2018 21:16

Yes. The bloody high heels.

I also hate the way the woman who didn't like the kids has the most violent and horrible death.

I quite enjoyed the rest of it though.

CruCru · 20/04/2018 21:17

Yes, the incredibly high heels annoyed me too.

justmuddlingalong went to the cinema today with a friend and our takeaway from the new Jurassic franchise film was, ‘they gave her boots!’

3luckystars · 20/04/2018 21:21

I can’t remember the exact story but did she offer to look after her sisters children and then dump them with someone else while she went to work?
If so then her sister he every right to come on here and give out about her.

sausagedogsmakechipolatas · 20/04/2018 21:22

the trailer for the new Jurassic franchise film, that should have read.

DrMidgeryMargery · 20/04/2018 21:23

Can you imagine the AIBU off the kids’ mom though? ‘My sister said she’d have my two boys for the weekend, but instead she left them with an uninterested nanny and they ran off and nearly got eaten by a big fuckoff dinosaur on more than one occasion. AIBU to think that if you want to see your nephews you actually book the time off and spend time with them and make sure they don’t get eaten?’

Grin

But yeah, the heels and outrunning the T-Rex is ridiculous. God I love that film and I can’t wait for JW2.

Willow2017 · 20/04/2018 21:31

Love the whole franchise. Cant wait for the new one.
But yep If I had a sister who offered to look after my kids, forgot, then got some random assistant to do it who didnt have a clue about kids, who then lost them, then they nearly died I would be severely pissed off too.

But she did redeem herself so alls forgiven (its a film after all)
But I am still jealous she got to kiss Chris Pratt, what I wouldnt give to be on the back of that bike riding with (real) raptors with him Grin

Totallytopsecret · 20/04/2018 21:37

And when she does save Chris and the Boys from a pterasaur they still give Chris all the credit.

condepetie · 20/04/2018 21:50

I was annoyed about the treatment of the babysitter lady, who spends the whole movie being inoffensive and then gets killed in a really horrible way. :(

ArcheryAnnie · 20/04/2018 21:51

Agreed, OP. (And I hated the death of the assistant, too.)

Mind you, I also thought this meme had a point about another really irritating thing in Jurassic World:

Ha! That meme is brilliant!

Twounder1 · 20/04/2018 21:55

SneakyGremlins · 20/04/2018 21:57

Aprilmightbemynewname · 20/04/2018 22:05

Must have seen it a hundred times! Ds 3 loves it!!

UpstartCrow · 20/04/2018 22:07

SneakyGremlins You can get it for under a pound on Ebay so yes.

SneakyGremlins · 20/04/2018 22:13

Willow2017 · 20/04/2018 22:20

I haven't seen it. Worth watching?

Of course it is. ITS GOT DINOSAURS Grin Grin and Chris Pratt

CruCru · 20/04/2018 22:33

Ah, you see I thought that the passive aggressive sister had insisted that the boys go to stay with Clare (as she and her husband are getting a divorce). Also, the poor assistant was only going to look after them for the first day (as Clare was BUSY) and then Clare was going to spend the next day with her nephews.

OP posts:
BoneyBackJefferson · 20/04/2018 22:39

they weren't left with an un interested nanny.

they were left with her PA, in that situation I suspect that most people would be pissed off if they had their bosses nephews dumped on them.

RoomOfRequirement · 20/04/2018 22:42

I was more irritated that they tried to push the idea people were bored of seeing REAL DINOSAURS.

Come on now. If Jurassic World were real it would be packed to capacity forever. I really want it to be real

kalapattar · 20/04/2018 22:44

We can't find a dinosaur. Instead of checking where it is with the tracker, we'll just go straight in to the enclosure.

But that would have made for a very short film Grin

There was an interesting comparison to the role of women in Jurassic Park compared to Jurassic World. In Jurassic World, there was a female scientist. Put the men in the car in 'their place'

Then takes on the dinosaurs, tells owner he can discuss sexism in survival situations later.

No high heels, neglectful aunts etc in site.
