My feet smell awful

Posting here for traffic

Currently I have a problem with my really smelly feet.

I didnt always have it as bad as this.

But i am now very self conscience about it now to the point I keep my Shoes or Boots on til I go for a bath at night, I wash every day, change my socks everyday.

Any cure for stinky feet? If I go for a bath and leave my footwear in my room I can usually smell it as soon as I walk in the door.

How often do you wear the same shoes?

What are your socks made of?

Queenio24 · 20/04/2018 19:41

Rotate between a couple of pairs of different shoes every day, wash well with soap, and check for fungal infections.

Try this:

Leaving your shoes on will make us worse.

By now there will be lots of bacteria living off in the warm/wet environment of your shoes and you may need to chuck them out.

You need to let your feet breath by taking your shoes off as soon as you get home. You also need to alternate shoes and not wear the same shoes two days in a row.

GleamingHeels · 20/04/2018 19:44

See doctor as may be athlete's foot, meanwhile buy a pot of Vicks and apply to your feet and between your toes morning and night. Also take your shoes and socks off at every possible opportunity and let the air to them, also dry between your toes very carefully after every wash

Rac11 · 20/04/2018 19:44

Hibiscrub, one wash alone will cure the smell. It kills the bacteria that causes the smell.

deborah1984 · 20/04/2018 19:46

I do usually rotate between wearing my Boots and my Flat Shoes for work. Always wear Cotton Socks.

Suppose like I say a bit paranoid about the smell, even my partner remarked recently that he could smell my feet from where I was sitting which made it a little embarassing, though at the same time I would rather know hence why I usually keep my footwear on.

I have the same problem and have just discovered Actu Fresh. It’s a bacteria killing spray that you can use on feet and in shoes. It’s lieteally changed my life and my pumps no longer honk Blush

PeaPodPopper · 20/04/2018 19:50

It could be Hyperhidrosis - excessive sweating of the body, often palms of hands and soles of feet.

Chopsypie · 20/04/2018 19:52

Washing your feet in vinegar should kill the bacteria too. I assume white vinegar works as well as malt

Guinefort · 20/04/2018 19:55

My DD swears by bamboo socks. They are naturally antibacterial. She proudly told me she had worn the same socks for 3 days and they still didn't smell 🙈

Sitranced · 20/04/2018 19:55

A soak or two in Listerine, yes the mouthwash, or tea tree oil and a layering of Vicks every night clears up fungal infections which is usually the cause of the smell.

deborah1984 · 20/04/2018 19:57

I am hoping it isnt a fungal infection though sounds like it could be.

Wear Black Socks mostly to work and noticed when washing that most of my pairs are a Brown colour at the toes, bought a few new pairs recently and worn them a few times and the same issue.

Look up ways to treat fungal infections with white vinegar. Quick, easy and cheap!

Jeffjefftyjeff · 20/04/2018 20:04

Second bamboo socks and taking shoes / socks off as soon as walk through door. Also soak feet in dilute mouthwash (an anti bacterial one)

ShatnersBassoon · 20/04/2018 20:05

Go and see a chiropodist. They can treat any infections and advise on good hygiene practices and footwear choices.

deborah1984 · 20/04/2018 20:11

Got my Boots off as hubby is out though my feet are horrid.

Need to give Bamboo Socks a look

new shoes? I got a pair of walking boots very wet once. They stank after, had to chuck em :)

deborah1984 · 20/04/2018 20:14

Maybe need to try new Shoes, I have tried new insoles which is fine for a day or two though ends up the same.

Do you have a lot of hard skin on your feet? If so, soak in mouthwash and warm water and use a pumice or foot file. You have to let your feet air though. Maybe wash your feet as soon as you get home, fresh socks and slippers with a bit of talc sprinkled in.

deborah1984 · 20/04/2018 20:29

Yes I do have some hard skin.

LucheroTena · 20/04/2018 20:29

How do your feet look, any discolouration of toe nails or dry / hard skin on feet? Do they get very sweaty?

deborah1984 · 20/04/2018 20:30

Also the soles of my feet are white, mostly after I go for a bath or shower
