To think about using a sunbed when pregnant?

Just that really. I’m almost 18 weeks and have a couple of summer holidays to Spain. Despite the risks which I am fully aware of, I would usually have a few short sessions in the few weeks leading up as I have found it really helps prevent prickly heat, and a ‘base tan’ prevents my skin burning in the sun.

I’ve read that skin can me more sensitive when pregnant which is why it’s not advised so obviously I’d go on for the minimum time and stop if there was any sign of an adverse reaction.

Has anyone else considered using a sunbed when pregnant?

I was 6 weeks pregnant and didn't realise you weren't meant to use sunbeds 😬 when pregnant. After I found out though (I had about 3) I stopped as I just wouldn't of forgiven myself if something bad had happened and I'd knowingly ignored advice. The times I did go on obviously didn't matter squat but still it's the guilt I'd of suffered if things had gone wrong.

The notion of sunbeds offering anything beneficial is just insane.
They do harm. Harm that can lead to an early death.
They should be banned.

Sadly they do matter as they will have done some damage to your skin. Hopefully you have escaped without any significant harm. But please don't go on again. We have a duty to look after ourselves in every way we can and sunbeds are harmful and potentially will shorten lives
