He has cooked dinner with a packet of chow mein stir fry sauce he found in the back of the cupboard that went off in June 2016!!! And we have all already eaten it.

Are we going to get sick from that?

It'll be fine. It's full of sugar and e numbers anyway.

frankchickens · 19/04/2018 20:27

No you will be absolutely fine.

itchychin · 19/04/2018 20:28

Did it taste okay? It might have enough preservatives to be fine 🤞

BeefyCakes · 19/04/2018 20:30

It'll be a best before date rather than use by date. You'll be fine.

NewYearNewMe18 · 19/04/2018 20:30

'went off' or out of date?

Whats the AIBU

dementedpixie · 19/04/2018 20:31

Was it a best before or a use by? If best before, then quality is affected but it's not unsafe

upsideup · 19/04/2018 20:34

Okay, thank God!
I feel like it could have been a little thicker than its supposed to which is why as well as not remembering buying it I checked the date but it tasted okay. I just checked and it was only a best before date.

That's not 'gone off'! That's just out of date. Out of date is fine. If it had gone off you'd have smelt it.

Allmyshilldren · 19/04/2018 20:43

Is this the same guy who ate sausages from the bin last week?

DSHathawayGivesMeFannyGallops · 19/04/2018 20:44

Should be fine! I'm sure there was a recent thread about people finding really out of date food and a few people accidentally ate things from the 90s and were fine!
