to ask about iPhones?

I am an Android User but looking at moving across to iPhone.

Have any of you done this and found the change in platform OK?

I'm looking at an iPhone 6 or iPhone SE at present. Does anyone have any experience with those phones?

I have an iphone 6. I've had Android (and even Windows) phones in the past.

It does take some adjustment - some things are better and some worse IMHO. I changed because so many of my family are Apple fanatics and it's easier communicating using similar devices.

At first I cursed Apple, but it's just an adjustment process.

Thanks frank Yes, I've suffered the ball and chain of having a Windows phone too. Never again.

Do most of the apps store onto the phone? I note you can't expand the memory

I've got an se and dd and dh have 6s and 7s (I think). I'm not sure I could go back to Android now.
I've got a lot -seventy billion pics on mine and countless unused-- apps and I've still got storage space left.

My current phone is a Samsung j3 and it only has 8GB. The 6 has 32gb I think. I have tonnes of photos. I can store those on icloud yes?

I’ve had iPhones, but I can’t get on with them and imo they are just not that good! My iPad is a wonderful thing but no iPhone has ever been good to me

Samsung Galaxy on the other hand, bloody marvellous. Easy to use, no problems

First smartphone I had was an IPhone and will never touch them again. Currently have a Samsung s8+ and I love it - huge storage, Chromecast streaming and loads of other features.

Total personal choice but android all the way for me.

You can store stuff in iCloud, but I am fairly sure only the first 5GB is free after that they try to cane you for a monthly subscription,

Not all androids are equal. If you are moving from a top of the range one then you might miss some of the features, but Apple devices compensate with useability. It is very, very east to get to grips with everything on an Apple device.

Apple is easier in my experience, I tried android and couldn’t get on with it at all! Mind you, recently upgraded to the iPhone X and wish I hadn’t.

I sort of went the other way, had an iPod Touch before I ever had a smartphone, so had Apple apps. Got an Android phone and stopped using the iPod Touch and shifted everything over to my phone. It was a bit annoying losing some of the apps that I really liked, but the benefits of not having Apple's restrictions more than made up for it.

I'd never go back to an iOS device now. At least with Android if I decide I can't stand HTC, I can get a Samsung or whatever next time. As an added bonus I never have to use iTunes again - never forgave it for somehow making some of my MP3s stutter at the beginning or the end, it had actually changed the file it wasn't just a playback error - and I never have to contact Apple customer service again, who I always found to be incredibly unhelpful (I know others have had a better experience).

Yes, and they send you emails about it constantly and every day I have to get rid of a message telling me my cloud storage is full (I DON'T CARE). My iPhone is okay, but I've had it for a year and I still don't love it. The only things I like about it are the fact that it's small (SE) and the camera is good. Everything else is either okay or irritating, plus I get phishing emails now about my Apple account, which fortunately I learned how to dodge attaching my payment details to.

@DuchyDuke having had to give support to people I work with who have bought Apple devices I think their ease of use is overstated. They also don't play nice with anything other than other Apple devices.

iPhones also seem ridiculously fragile, particularly their screens. Maybe the more recent ones are better?

I have both an iPhone 7 (work) and Pixel (personal). Most of the time, I use my own phone, as I cannot get on with iOS.

Don't do It!! I have had both and the Samsung is far better! Get an upgrade of your Samsung to an S8 or S9...they have heaps of storage which you can also increase with a memory card...you can't do this with Apple.

Im on a budget Samsung at present and I cant afford much more monthly bill wise.

To be honest everyone I know with screen issues has a Samsung. Apple fixes most iphones screens on the hop (with a fee) at least - not the experience friends have had with Samsung. There is also the small matter of data security - closed systems work better if you’re running a business.

I've got a Samsung s8. It has 64gb of memory and I have a SD card where all my photos go by default. I'm not a fan of iPhones but the memory restrictions put me off completely

I have an iPhone (se) and really like it, I think the operating system is really easy to use and i like the way everything is laid out - it feels really intuitive and even my completely techphobic Dad can use it!

That said it’s completely personal choice and not everyone likes them, it might be worth going into your local phone shop to discuss your needs and they can help weigh up the options.

I have an iPhone 5se and store all my photos on Google Photos - much easier than using iCloud.

I store my photos on Flickr (although there's loads of other companies who this now) so phone platform doesn't matter.

I used to exclusively use HTC but decided to go for an iphone 6. Had it for years now. As others have said there are advantages but it also has its drawbacks. One thing I immediately liked about the iphone is that it's very quick in response such as opening and switching between apps. With my HTC it was often clunky and slow and unresponsive.

With that said, the majority of people say samsungs are superior to iphones but i've never used one to find out.

Oh, one thing I don't like about iphones is that I find it extremely difficult to edit text using the select tool.

@DuchyDuke a friend of mine put her iPhone face down on her laptop, when she picked it up the screen had cracked. Someone else I know has got through about five iPhone screens in the last couple of years, she had a cheapy budget Android lent to her for a bit and the screen survived. I've also seen a couple of people waiting for a train drop their iPhones from around waist height and the screens have shattered. Like I say, more recent ones may be better.

Nobody I know with an Android has managed to break the screen, and they mostly have Samsung phones. My husband's Samsung got catapulted out of the car as I forgot it was on my lap, landed face down in a puddle and was fine. My DS is using an old HTC One M8 to play Pokémon Go and he's dropped it a lot, the screen is fine.

We have 2 SEs and otter box defender cases from Amazon. We find them very simple even instinctive to use. We are completely happy even pleased with them.
