To think he should’ve made SOME progress

With swimming😕

My 5 year old has had 20 swimming lessons at our local pool and has made zero progress at all. No exaggeration.

He refuses to kick his legs and just waits for the instructor to pull him along using the floats when it’s his turn.

We always go into the pool after the lesson with him and have ‘fun’ in the water and go on the slides etc.

He’s my eldest so what do I do?
Give up?
Wait a year?
Keep going?

Do some children just not get swimming?

It’s frustrating and expensive for very little return so far.

My children made no progress at all in class swimming lessons. We ended up paying for private lessons for them: the lessons were for two children at a time, and the instructor would go in the pool with them at first. They learned reallly quickly, are confident and capable swimmers, and enjoyed it too. And it wasn't any more expensive than paying for them to go to classes.
