Urgent advice needed - antiphospholipid and contraception slip up

We’ve had a contraception fail. Around day 12 of a 29 day cycle. We want a baby but I have just tested positive for antiphospholipid after recurrent miscarriage but haven’t had the second test to confirm it yet.

What do I do? I know I need anticoagulants to sustain a pregnancy, but when? Do I test early and ring my clinic if I get bfp? Help please. Do not want to expedience this again.

MAP not an option.

If you need them you need them ASAP. Do what you suggest, test, keep testing till af shows, and call them straight away if bfp.

Thank you. Do you think I should ring them this week and explain what happened, or just wait for the bfp?

When would af likely be due? And what did the clinic say when you last saw them?

I don’t have a diagnosis but my recurrent mc clinic treat everyone with fragmin injections from bfp so they tell you find out ASAP and call them, start the jabs that day and they arrange hcg bloods 48 hours apart at the hospital to check how the pregnancy is progressing.

No harm at all in calling them now and asking what to do if you are pregnant, they’ll have a plan in mind for these scenarios.

Would it be good news if not ideal timing?

In about two weeks.

Last time they said I tested positive for two antibodies indicating APS, and that I need to do another blood test to confirm result. They said that it’s treatable and it’s blood thinners but no advice on what to do if this happens. I have been lucky enough to conceive quickly, all of them were in less than a year, so I am a bit worried

Call them today and have a chat about what to do if you have conceived.

There aren’t any risks with using blood thinners so they’ll probably treat you with them if you are pregnant before you’ve had conclusive results.

Try not to worry too much Flowers

Happy to chat if it helps. There’s a threat on ttc post recurrent losers in conception if you’d like to pop in and say hi.

Get medical advice asap. In the meantime baby aspirin may help. I’m not a doctor, but took aspirin through all my pregancies until a month before delivery for similar reasons.
