Went to a small chain pub on Saturday night with my partner. I ordered the steak onion rings and mash. He ordered burger chips and onion rings. When the onion rings came out they where limp thin soggy with grease and no batter to be seen. When the server came to take our plates I mentioned the onion rings I said that they where inedible. He agreed and said he’s never liked them. When I got home I emailed to complain and all I got back was a sorry about your steak being chewy and onion rings I will mention it to the resteraunt and thank you for your feedback. I don’t want to seem grabby to want a voucher or somthing but paying for a meal that’s inedible is such a waste money’s tight at the moment and this was our monthly treat should I chase it up. Or leave it and no not to order the onion rings again

I’d google customer complaints and email pics.

DevilsDoorbell · 16/04/2018 19:10

You should have complained at the time and sent your food back if you weren’t happy.

I'm not sure you will get very far. The food came out, you accepted it. You mentioned the onion rings to your server after the meal, but the proper thing to do would have been to send the food back.

myhousesmellsofIKEA · 16/04/2018 19:17

If you were unhappy enough to take a picture of the food then you should have said something at the time so the kitchen could have replaced them or cooked you a different meal.
I was a restaurant manager for years and was always annoyed at follow up emails. It didn’t give us a chance to rectify the problem there and then, although I would have offered a main course each on the house or something.

IsDaveThere · 16/04/2018 19:28

I would also leave it. In your OP you say that the onion rings were limp and soggy, you second post says that your steak was chewy and finally that your meal was inedible. which was it?

If it really was inedible then you should have said so at the time to give the chef the opportunity to rectify the matter. Most places cone round whilst your are eating to ask if everything is OK with your meal, that is your opportunity to say " well... actually X is wrong with it".

Happychicken1994 · 16/04/2018 20:06

Ok I will just leave it the night was heaving so trying to get a waiter was a night mare. the que for the bar was huge had I gone to the bar food would of been cold everyone’s onion rings where the same on other tables. Had I returned my plate they weren’t suddenly going to bring out normal onion rings these ones had a sort of weird batter.

Why did you (a) pay the bill ? (b) not send them back when they arrived?

If the food isn't what you order, you send it back, nicely, and ask for what you ordered.

Happychicken1994 · 16/04/2018 22:14

Because it was late had to be home at a certain time. There where no staff walking around que to the bar was huge so didn’t really fancy waiting. Mash was decent so I ate that along with chewy steak but that’s the kid of steak you get when you pay for a cheap meal.

Honestly, it’s worth a try to customer service/hq email, saying what you have said here with pictures.

Happychicken1994 · 16/04/2018 23:00

I emailed customer services I mentioned everything I have said here. Will chalk it up to experience and make more of a fuss before eating if I can next time
