Cineworld now only stocking drinks with artificial sweeteners

Another chain bent over and stopped selling Coke. Now every drink offered has Artificial sweetners.
Was really looking forward to my Coke and popcorn combo. Had to go without as I can't drink sweeteners nor do I want to.

Next time I'm taking in my own snacks and drink.

So frustrated and angry about this. I'm an adult and I want to make my own choices for myself and my family.

Cheaper to take your own anyway, you can still get your popcorn.

Same in Subway this week, I can't have sweeteners and think they are devils work anyway. I had water instead but really fancied full sugar Pepsi.

NellytheElephant18 · 15/04/2018 22:06

They don’t sell water then?

madeyemoodysmum · 15/04/2018 22:07

Not on the combo deal no. It's massively cheaper to get a drink on the deal And it's a treat I don't want water when I'm looking forward to a treat.

Yes, nelly they sell water, and orange juice (and probably other drinks). But not fizzy pop with sugar, so if that's what you want, you'll need to bring your own.

BrightYellowDaffodil · 15/04/2018 22:11

This really annoys me, I can't bear the taste of sweeteners; I'll feel sick for hours afterwards if I've had food or drink with them in. As OP says, if I'm going to the cinema it's a treat and I expect to be able to choose a sugary drink if I want - what with being (allegedly) a grown-up and all - and I'm more than happy to pay the extra sugar tax.

I just get round it by taking my own.

Growingboys · 15/04/2018 22:15

I am quite sure the chemical sweeteners are worse for you than sugar.

Jamie Oliver spouting this anti sugar stuff in the paper today.

So misguided. The sweeteners are highly likely to be carcinogenic.

DumbledoresApprentice · 15/04/2018 22:20

My local cineworld has a Starbucks so I tend to get a coffee. I don’t mind sugar-free drinks but would still like a choice.
I had a bottle of Ramune the other day and it was so noticeably nicer than all of the sugar free stuff I’ve had recently. It made me think that the Japanese have the right idea- full sugar and small servings (a bottle is only 200ml). I think now that I can get it in Morrisons it’s going to be my summer treat this year.

madeyemoodysmum · 15/04/2018 22:27

We Can't have sugar in drinks but can have a massive bag popcorn. Ben and jerrys pick and mix etc.

Sweeteners raise insulin levels anyway tricking the body to expect sweet

Take your own, they don't mind and it will save a fortun e.

JojoLapin · 15/04/2018 22:45

"The sweeteners are highly likely to be carcinogenic." Based on which (scientifically based) study?
